Gotcha. I felt the same way. I saw the blue paint in Lowes and thought that would make a stunning speaker... dont ask why, I havent a clue. Covid gave me the time to build and I had already decided to call them Covid blues. When I logged on to unveil them I heard about Jeff and the timing seemed inappropriate. There is no doubt in my mind heceouldve liked the pair you created. I cant imagine many people wouldn't. The woodwork presents exquisitely. I'd like to think he might even have appreciated my colorful twist on the speaker.. departure that it may be.

I meant Mr. Bagby's death. He got a laugh out of the pair of Quarks I built to look like little Continuums. The Harbeth speakers I mimicked were his inspiration for the Continuums. I like to think he would like this pair.

The beauty of it is that it is never too late... pour a glass of your favorite mellow... dim the lights and turn off anything that you can... that makes noise... and enjoy. I've heard music expressed differently. I've heard things I didnt know were in the recording. A low noise floor and the design choices around that bass drop really make the " inner" music shine through. Piano footwork, foot taps, faint instrument sounds or vocals. Old music is new again. And voices... omg.... just downright uncanny!

I have heard familiar music sound better already. So glad I finally built them, a bit late perhaps.

Btw, djg, be prepared for many a late night. These little guys really pull you into the music. I've had many speakers in my 54 years but these are the first that I've truly felt I could live with... in my price range... for the rest of my life. I just don't have a burning desire to upgrade or tweak. In fact, The two pairs that make up my 4.2 channel surround set up have been running off my Denon 4520 with no more than an Audyssey run. The new pair are connected to a modified tube preamp powered by an Adcom 555 (no laughing please, but I enjoy their sound.. and again within my price range). With twin nearfield 15" sealed ultimax subs they really meet all of my needs, minus extremes of volume/ dynamics. The statement monitors bested them for bombastic movies but for everything else I prefer my continuums. To my ears they are just THAT good!

I also wish I could paint.... well. Lol. They are 1.5 ftrs. Look good from 18 inches away. Maybe even 12 but I'm still proud of 'em. There is in fact a difference between them. At the risk of sounding like an audiophile, the improved high end of the Morel tweeter gives the II a more analytical sound. Not so much as to make them bad... they are just different. Whereas the Mk I makes me focus on the mids, the II has such exquisite high end it naturally draws you in. Essentially the high end outshines the mids. They are reminiscent of my statement monitors with the highs sounding ribbon-like. Hard to pick a favorite but I just finished these recently so time will tell. I am enamored with the first 2 pairs so they will be hard to dethrone no matter what.

The knuckle rap on these cabs is quite dead. Maybe the double layer floor tape construction has benefits. Maybe not.

Glad to see some new continuums builds. Recently built my 3rd pair, "Covid- blues" made all the more poignant by the passing of Mr. Bagby. These are continuum II's but I have two pairs of the original tweeter version.

The Zingers nearfield are a stretch, and don't need the 2.1 arrangement.

djg- I am not surprised the Zingers are inferior in comparison. The goals for the 2 different pairs were also very different, and I'm positive the Continuums are better in the midrange.

No need to be sorry, as it was to be expected for this application. As to which is better in a dorm-room, garage, doing deep bass duty, or the occasional small house party- I think the Zingers would do better there.
