A 2.1 desktop system based on BOBinGA's PEDS 2.1

Cut the MDF for the boxes. The satellites are pretty much as BOBinGA designed. The sub is the same 6 1/2" TB in a ported box. BOBinGA designed his sealed sub to work with the Dayton MCA 2.1 plate amp's 6db boost. I'm using a 2.1 chip amp. I have a slightly larger ported box, definitely skewed towards small size vs ultimate performance.

The satellites and possibly the sub will be pink. Hello Kitty theme.

Amp arrived. 19V brick looks a bit anemic. We will evaluate when able.

All 1/2" MDF, sub has double thick baffle. I have to ship this across the country, thus I will probably use t nuts on the driver fasteners. I can imagine a USPS drop test ripping the 6 LB Tang Band loose with just wood screws.

Hey Bob, I'm interested in building just the satellites, but ported. Could I build a slightly larger box, say .08cf and tuned you 75-80hz? Omitting the 200uf and .33uf caps from the crossover. I'm really looking for a "quark like" speaker.

I have one like it without bluetooth. It's very adjustable, but, like many little 2.1 chipamps, it runs the satellites full range. So, I really like your filter on your crossover design.

Thank you. I think the satellite design will really work with the 2.1 chip amps out these days. The big cap limiting low freq. response should protect the system from overzealous volume application.

I got this stuff today from Amazon. Epoxy repair paste. Cheap, good reviews. To fill cracks. I hate the smell and short work life of polyester body putty. We'll see how it works.

what's the port diameter and length?

tough part with that subwoofer driver is avoiding port noise

2" PVC. About 15". It's hard to measure around 2 elbows. I did test it with my similar 2.1 amp with some Pandora. It makes bass.

I had this "Monster XP compact precision stranded high resolution speaker cable with magnetic flux tube and LPE dielectric", patented. I DID NOT BUY THIS. I made speaker cables with PE budget crimp on banana plugs. I soldered them. Good quality plugs, the cable insulation took some heat with no distress. They are kind of pink, to match the color scheme.



The jacks on the amp are very close, banana plugs are the best connection choice IMHO.
