Glad to hear this, djg - I'll have more to add as I improve my technique and drumming skills. (I appreciate the feedback as well - gives me a reason to keep posting the effort here).

Something I drug up from the past called "Butterfly" written by Danno, Cassie and assisted by a famous Keyboard Player [David Sancious] and my meager drumming alone - I left out the other tracks as I can't stand the lyrics and thought that this work could stand on its own as is - hope you enjoy as background music --> https://www.dropbox.com/s/ga2hdj6umq...0Mix.wav?raw=1

OK, one last one - I am reaching WAY back as far as I want too with this one and added some compression to it to bring the levels up - The percussion/fill stuff was done on a 2nd take as an overlay to the main track using the Samba speakers as reference for mixing. (They really sound good near-field - as far field - they lack bass so you need subs to deal with it in a larger room).

I wish I was 20 YO again with what I am now experienced with and am capable-of affording . . .

Steve, just got through the back-half of this thread and listened to your mixes.
Very cool stuff. I truly envy people that have musical capabilities in whatever form.
            Keep it up.
            Andy.

I grew-up on Motown and this one you suggest is really good work - I'll just listen to it and its message, if you don't mind.

                  Thanks, man!

I thought the drumming was pretty dense.

It certainly is and very well done - it is mostly an instrumental work so it needed that upbeat percussion groove to fill-in and keep it alive/interesting.

I did goof this one up (a bit) but I had the groove for almost all of it - hope you enjoy it:

This one will take a while to download - I messed-up and rendered it at 192 KHz so it is stupid high definition . . . (not that it needed it).

You're making me want to go to my music dungeon and practice, Steve. You made those Samba's look great. I'd like to hear you on an acoustic kit. Glenn.

Glen, Thanks for your thoughts - I finally got used to playing these pads/e-kit and discovered Virtual Instruments via MIDI and got rid of my acoustics, mic's, Ardvark A/D converters, gates, compressors, mixing console, broken sticks, constantly tuning drum heads and chasing down bad patch/mic cables and WILL NEVER GO BACK.

I hope you do go practice and thanks for the encouragement/inspiration.

The secret to playing music is to learn how to recover from your mistakes within the 1/4 notes of time you have available to do so.

When you are not troubled by life and free of mind - that is a huge slice of time to consider your options and change direction.

For most of us this is an impossibility - but we are far more capable creatures than we know until we shut off the distractions this world pushes upon us all in an effort to control us.

                        God bless us all.

                          Thanksgiving from above . . .

As each of us drift-in and out of sync
we try to convey the way we think
about our lives and time here spent together
and if what we do is more important than to weather
our fears of failure this world us try, and tether

Like a lion at times I play for thee
filled with confidence, spirit and mind so free
but the roar of that effort soon becomes replaced
by doubts, introspection and a lack of grace

Since a childhood so long ago
a ghost pursues me that won't let go
of my spirit constantly in doubt
of that which I am or am not, about

Yet again I shall try to achieve things great
regardless of my time so seemingly late
and play my best for all to see
This fearful child inside of me

                          and be one
even just for a little while

                          PTL.
