  • 1st attempt at speaker building

After much thought I decided on a pair of Tritrix sealed boxes for my first diy project. Used 3/4 birch plywood for the enclosure and 3/4 poplar for front and rear baffle.

You need to post this on the regular Tech Talk Forum http://techtalk.parts-express.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2

This forum is really a gallery for completed projects, photos, etc.

FWIW, optimum center to center spacing, lobing and other reasons for MTM configuration. "Looks" is typically not a good design parameter. Experts on the other forum can tell you better than me.

I definately learned alot making these. I am not thrilled about the way the finish turned out on the birch plywood. Next set I build, probly will use solid oak or at least an oak front, the rest painted or textured.

Looking very good so far. Did you design them yourself ? Or did you use someone else crossover design ? And more importantly , how do they sound ?
              Thanks ,

i think they would been fine if you would have covered the ply with the poplar baffle and done a roundover. nice miters.

Mods described this as a space for project galleries. No mention was made as to whether the projects have to be completed or not. I think works in progress are exactly what was intended for this section, and the general forum is for most all other questions or exchanges of info. IMHO.

Re: 1st attempt at speaker building

I took this to be a 'finished success' sector, and the main forum for build threads. It's a 'Gallery', not a documentation section.

I will still be build-threading in the main-forum.

I didn't want to hide the miters, so I did a rabbit cut for the baffle. That being said, I will not do it again, it was a pain.

this seemed like the right place to post project pictures. Should I post semi-completed pics elsewhere?

OK I am done, these sound pretty smooth, and handle power better than I anticipated. Can't wait to build another set. They have alot more detail than what I was using.
