        Looking sweet, Lou!
I like the rosewood veneer, and I agree with Brewski...the grill cloth matches very nicely. Good work

1 lb cut dewaxed shellac, 3-5 coats of Fuhr 380 waterbase acrylic.
Finishing disasters abound (see my website write up)

Sorry about the gnats!!! Have the same gnat problem here, when you want to paint or finish something, they show up in droves!

They can sure bite and leave a welt on you to:eek:

Hey unless you sent 'em, nothing to be sorry about! They're just annoying here. We have africanized bees, horseflies, dozens of varieties of ants, scorpions, wasps and other toxic creatures. (But no fleas or chiggers!)
I have a resident gecko family (dad is about 10" long) that we keep fed with 'em.

Ahhh...Chiggers! We have lots of those around here! Spend some time on country roads along the ditches picking wild plums and choke cherrys for homemade jellies! You will find out the true meaning of chiggers! If you don't have bug repellent on, those things will eat you alive, not to mention the horrid itch in all those tight places, they like to find on your body!:(

lou, is that thick grill cover from pe? if so, how did you secure it? i used a piece i picked up in the showroom for a buck. i had to secure with staples, then lots of hot glue, ironed it smooth the pulled the staples. what a pain.

No, it's a piece of 3/8 mdf (I've also used 1/4" baltic before) Just used the 260-366 grill guides. Cut out the center, beveled the hole edge, rattle can black. Cloth is held on with hotmelt

Okay, I've just decided that AZ is not a place for me to retire to. Of course, paying for the kids' educations will prevent me from ever being able to retire.

This is where America comes to die & play golf in January. No serious quakes, hurricanes, 'gators, kudzu, or recurrent floods. Relatively cheap to live. If you do find the perfect place, you won't be able to afford it -- or it will be outside the U.S. Critters come with the package. All in all, not too many places I'd rather be. (Maybe Montana in the summer)

mattk: The bugs and critters here in AZ are benign compared to a LOT of other places around the country. As a dog owner, I'm really glad we don't have the jumping flea problem you see in moister climates. Not to mention all the other nasty critters you can find elsewhere.

                            Re: the Piccolata's

I just listened to the pair (I'd only heard a single speaker before) hooked up in Lou's man cave tonite. With and without the high pass in the HT receiver. Very very nice speakers. Would be great wide open in a small room (surprising bass for a 4") or desk system. Great as a HT satellite as well. I'm glad to find that these new vifa tweeters sound so nice. I'm using a pair in my upcoming computer rig.

p.s. The rosewood veneer looks great!
