I bought 12 of the JVC buyouts that were $1.25 each. I didn't expect much, but figured I could have some fun with them, and they were CHEAP!!! I put a pair in a sealed box about 5" X 7" X 4" (IAW WinISD). Not bad! Not bad at all!!! They won't fill a theater, but for a desk top or other near-field need, they're pretty impressive. Add a sub-woofer, and they would be even better. I've only run them a couple of hours, so I don't know how much break-in time they need. I wouldn't put them up against my Dynacos or JBLs, but like I said, for what they are, they're really good. For $2.50 for the pair of drivers and a little bit of scrap wood for the cabinets, they're great. Not much to look at now, but as small as they are, I can afford some really nice wood to build boxes for them.
I might make another pair and then use the remaining four pairs for some arrays. If I run two sets of two pairs in series, and then those in parallel, I should be back to 8 ohms. Do I need to adjust some of the numbers to use Win ISD for my box? Or should I just make a four section column, with each section the same dimensions as the single box I already made? And finally, I don't know how to figure for spacing between each driver; any advice?
Thanks in advance.
