I have thousands of dollars invested in automotive and engine building tools... and here is what I have to build speakers

Powerhouse of a saw, bought on closeout for $119 (note the stellar fence)!

My dust collection system is Old Mother Nature (i.e. everything is cut, routed, and sanded on the crumbling driveway). And the good old leaf blower lets me share my extras with the neighborhood

Here's what way too many late night hours of playing with PCD yielded:

That lift in the top octave shouldn't bother me much as I have lost a lot of that hearing range due to open headers and way too much car audio thump back in the day!!! My daughter and wife, however, might not like it.

Here is the test box I built to measure the 8945A's Vas:

I also used the added mass method with my WT-3. They were very close to each other.

Nice work so far! I like the way you did the baffle. Interesting.

Do you have a Menards store near you? Just curious as they carry many of the brands of tool you had showing in your photos.

Certainly looks like Menard's router bits! Have used those and they are not toooo bad a bit for the money! Your project is looking nice and judging by the pic's, your loaded for bear! Have Fun

Re: My new project (yet to be named)

My table saw is very similar, I hate the fence but with some care in setting it up and not trusting it I do alright.
I also have a bunch of the Tool Shop router bits, slowly being phased out with better stuff.

I bet those are going to sound very nice, and you should not worry about a 1 db lift in the top octave. Most people can't hear that high, and there really isn't a lot going on up there in any event.
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

Johnny I totally concur. It is a pain to set up the fence, but I can get straight, square, clean cuts if I take my time and use a framing square and make a couple of test cuts first.

Made a little more progress late this morning after the drizzle stopped. These are the vertical window braces that will span from side to side, top to bottom. If you look closely you can see my layout lines that show where horizontal braces will attach and tie to the sides, front, and back.

Ah yes, good old Menard's. I have two Menard's stores within 7 miles of my house. I generally (almost always) buy very high quality tools because if you look at how long they last and what a great job they do, it certainly pays off in the long run. However, with just having our first baby and the wife resigning from her job to become a stay home mom, this was all I felt comfortable spending for my relatively new hobby. I'm sure a year or so from now when the router and table saw bite the dust I will wish I had splurged and got the good stuff :( But for now I am having fun and learning a lot

I woke up in the night and came up with this idea for a name:

                              "The RUshers"

From the Dayton RS tweeter and the Usher midbasses.

Too simple? Too stupid? Or just right? I'm open to any suggestions!
