  • Poor Plumber's Pluto DIY project

Some have called these 'Bu*t-ugly'. Others, view them differently. They are a novel design with an obvious low WAF some may find interesting enough to build and enjoy with their friends. How do they sound? My biased opinion, fantastic.

Not important to the overall sound presentation. The mouth of the TL's is about 10 dB down from the woofer/mid and tweeter.

I could easily make them symmetrical for aesthetic reasons.

I think you over estimate the WAF. (low? try Zero)

I however think they are cool. Maybe a good shop speaker!

I think the original Pluto's are ugly too. Doesn't mean they don't sound good though. I read in your other post you didn't see why SL placed the woofer firing up. That was the whole part of the design to give the speaker an Omni sound. He chose the 1khz crossover point just for that reason.
I thought about making some pvc enclosures myself then I thought again. :D
It's not about what other people think of your design it's all about what sounds great to you. If you love them , then that's all that matters.
          Thanks ,

Wow, you do stay up late!
Perhaps SL explained his driver orientation tactics in subsequent forum posts? I couldn't find an explanation on his website. In any case, it's a VERY unorthodox arrangement never seen before by me - at least. I wonder how many non-Pluto builders will follow suit.

Low SAF is rebuilding your Bike in the L.R. over the Winter. For PC sake I'd agree it's not the best place to Spray the frame and Tins .

'A chair for You, a chair for me, a Love seat for the Company.

The Truth is this and all can see, they're only here to watch TV. '

              Author - Soupy.

Die Hard on premium channels at that.

How much furniture that performs no function yet the colors must match do Women need to try and convince their friends you have money when there's no Maserati in the driveway?

We'd all have at least Porsche Carrera's for Grocery getters were it not for Tupperware, picture frames and Magazines about stuff we wished we owned. After the Fire I realized my Wife had spent near 6K on Franklin Mint stuff I had wanted to own the real thing rather than a Model of. Needless to say none of this is allowed in areas of "Your Home" that 'other people' will see. How shallow is that.

Truth is of late we'd get along better with 2 homes connected by a hallway if this constant Mars and Venus garbage continues. Book your trip now, Earth won't survive with that attitude.

If we didn't know it was PVC we'd likely think it was Cool looking. All I was lookin to do was round over the edges to make it appear more fluid.

I personally think the same Designers that put together some of the most Industrial looking Locomotives since WW11 also work for Wilson Audio. They must be 'good looking' speaks based on the price.

Saying 'Aesthetics' doesn't effect us is foolish. Lately I'm into saving space with no compromise on ultimate sound. I'm really alone with this concept called 'function'. I'd like my stuff to be seductively transparent to the point it draws your attention yet disappears until it 'snags' you and gives me more room for functional items I'm doing without.

There's a guy over at DIY Audio that built some Gorgeous looking Pluto's - saved them to my Pictures.

              Eye of the Beholder.

' Hey Man - I saw yo Wife the other day, She sho is ugly!!! ... 'Yeah, but she sho can cook!!!'. Other Older Members remember the tune well. I deem it a Feminist Battle Cry.

Really Sorry. I'm just hating PC and that expression that came with it. The whole thing truthfully states you can't stand the Woman you're committed to and you have a snowballs chance in Hades of ever winning her approval in your lifetime or establishing that a Heterosexual Male has any value. Whatta ya suppose that makes Children feel like? Do the Math.

Turn all 4 walls into speakers and cover it all with some nice colored Burlap to make her happy.

'They' see you and your Kids all the time. Put a bunch of Plants all over the place instead of 100 pictures nobody cares about. 'REAL' Art is still beautiful. Live and Love together.

Turning 60 next month and realize now why the old man had an attitude.

Long Live the Loudspeaker... it delivers Music. How very, very Sweet.

Decreasing the width of the baffle will cause a drop in forwards output, and an increase in backwards output. The mid/tweeter has no baffle at all.
