Here are the studio monitors I just finished. Unlike most, these will really be used in the studio. I am very pleased with the sound so far. Although I am still playing with the crossovers a little, seeing what happens at different crossover points. I used the Peerless 830875 6 1/2" Nomex woofers and a pair of discontinued Vifa 1" silk domes I had laying around. These monitors reach real low, they are very revealing, yet incredibly listenable.

Re: My new Studio Monitors
Thank you for saying so. The Veneer is Mappa that I picked up at veneersupplies.com. I do not use these with a sub as they reach all the way down to 40hz flat with a nice slow curve below 20 on my RTA at reasonable mixing and monitoring volume levels. Surprizingly, they only roll about 2 db between 30 and 20hz in these boxes. If I need to hear detail in that region I would typically use my Sennheiser cans anyway. But these really put out a nice fast bass that is musically rich.

Yeah, the veneer is super-nice looking. Overall, a sharp looking speaker. Is that the Vifa Logic AC25 tweeter?Isn't it about time we started answering rhetorical questions?

That veneer was hard to work with because of all the voids that needed filling in. It looks better to use a dark filler and make it look like part of the knots in the burl as that is usually what falls out during resawing of burled woods. I really like the look of this wood, too. It really takes on a 3D quality when the light hits it.
