Re: Driscoll - My Iowa DIY entry.

    Johnny,
That Is a very attractive speaker with a professional looking finish. I would be proud to have that in my home; even more proud to have built it. I enjoyed your write up. I think the only way I will ever get a finish like that is to buy the cabinets from PE.

              Looks great, Johnny!

Do you have .frd and .zma's for the woofer that you can share?

Have you thought about drilling under-spider vent holes in the plastic frame? I might try it, but I'm only using them for mids.

Have you noticed the edge-damping rib on the underside of the surround? Yaaay!

I never created those files, I did all measurements in-box and I have not gotten my measurement system that dialed in yet so the measurements I do have are not SPL accurate.

I have pondered often the effects of putting some ventilation for the spider. I have an extra woofer (the one I ran my crushed dustcap experiment on) that would be perfect. Run some before and after distortion sweeps and see what, if any, changes there are.

As it is, if you keep the little guy over 50 or 70 hz it seems to do just fine. Great woofer, and for the $6.50 you can't do a whole lot better for 3x the price.

I have to admit, the number of views this thread has gotten is kind of startling. I wonder if the Audax woofer will sell out now?

                        Both drivers are officially NLA.

I am selling a set of drivers for this project.

Hi JR. I'm new to the forum and fairly new to speaker building. I purchased a bunch of the Peerless India W3-LK76-PBK 3" Paper Cone Shielded Woofer 4 O
and noticed you had posted a review. I was hoping to see the project in which you were using those woofers. Is it coming soon? ...sorry about changing the subject by the way:rolleyes:

Hey Cali, I have a small 2-way planned using the NLA square frame 3/4" neo tweeter, and a stand mount, sealed 3-way using this as a midrange and this on the bottom end, and this on the top end, with a (hopefully) very minimalist crossover. The little Peerless in some early testing shows a very broad, flat response that should be very easy to work with.
