These are my favorite build on this forum hands down. They resemble many of the speakers on HIgherfi.com, just on a smaller scale. In my eyes, this is the standard what should be built when doing it yourself. I give you credit for not chucking the baffles down the street with the cutout/recess ooops, thats what I would have done!

Thanks! If I can fix it and make it work, I try. It probably took just slightly less time to do the fix than to rebuild, but at least I wasnt wasting product. ;)
Thank you for the kind words. It was a long build for sure.
Okay, so some quick listening impressions after breaking these in. First off, I have some room node issues effecting bass response that Im working on dealing with. The RTA shows some extreme peaks and dips in a few select areas and I can use EQ to an extent to flatten some of this out. I can get it sounding quite good at the listening position, but everywhere else in the room is overly bass heavy in the lowest frequencies. I must say, these Usher drivers are capable of some serious low frequency extension and they have some very nice output too. What a terrific driver!
Im VERY pleased with the midrange/tweeters in this setup. Im a big fan of the sound of the Tang Band bamboo coned mids and they certainly dont let down in this build, especially paired up with the LCY110 ribbons. Theres plenty of crisp, clear and detailed response that really suits my preference. Acoustic instrument pieces sound absolutely amazing on these. I've had a Palladia concert recording on my DVR for about 6 months which was a live-recorded performance by the Counting Crows. The dynamics are just incredible. With the wider horizontal dispersion of the ribbons, the 'sweetspot' is large enough to accomodate more than one good seat on the couch ;)
Overall, Im really happy with how this project has turned out. Alot of time, learning and construction work has gone into them but its been well worth the investment. Im enjoying them and so is everyone else that has seen/heard them. They really do look like boutique store speakers and most people are shocked to learn that I actually built them ;)
Thanks to those of you who have offered your comments, support and advice throughout this process!
Those are some mean looking speakers. I mean they just kind of say, I'm going to kick your a*s! But in a very elegant way Nice job dude! Those truncated driver recesses look good on the top end and that piano black finish is stunning.
