      Awesome looking project!

I really love the shape of the mtm section, and the veneer looks great on the bass bins!

      Great work!

I got 2 more coats of the Evercoat Featherfill G2 on these things before I ran out and then did about an hour and a half of sanding on ONE of the enclosures last night. It's not that they are difficult to sand, you just have to be very careful...Some 320 grit with the random orbit followed by 400 grit by hand in spots. Its looking pretty smooth right now. I'll have to sand the other one tonight and then prep for paint. (clean and run a tack cloth over them)

The one thing Im not sure about is flash time between the base coats seeing as how Im spraying in 45-50 degree temps. I guess I'll have to play it by ear and give it the old 'feel' test. Im thinking 2-3 coats (probably 3) and I'll be good to go.

EDIT: Oh, and also put another coat of the clear on the bass enclosures. They will get one more coat and then be sanded/polished up.
I just found this build...you are doing an excellent job at both the build and its documentation! 320 might be a little rough for the Featherfill G2. Did you try 400-600 grit? Were you wet-sanding or dry sanding? Wet sanding will take way more paint off since the paper doesn't fill up as easily. Sorry for the interrogation... I'm really impressed with the extra time you're taking to do it right.

I did 320 dry and 400 dry. I also did a bit of 400 wet in spots. Thanks !
The 320 was actually really good on the Featherfill. Since I got 5 coats on there I needed to get the orange peel smooth and it worked pretty well with the bosch sander.

              Started paint this evening...ROCK

Got the first and second base coats on and had a few minor gun issues. I was getting weak/no spray after about 30 seconds of spraying. Eventually found that the air valve on the top of the paint cup is clogged. I had to unscrew/screw back on the top to keep low pressure in the cup. :o
I need to clean that out thoroughly after the base is complete, before clear coat.

              Pics to follow after paint...

Here's a tip for cleaning. It also works when a thick paint or filler primer clogs the flow of paint(this won't help when the tip is actually clogged). You'll know if it's that problem when it sprays smooth and then starts sputtering as the paint settles in the cup.
TIP: When the gun is connected, pull the trigger to the point where air flows freely, but the paint isn't spraying. Now, unscrew the ring that holds the tip on. You should hear a "pop" and the paint will start gargling in the cup. It stirs everything up in the gun and works wonders for cleaning and paints/primers that settle to fast and start to clog up the gun. There's a Youtube video of a guy with a mullet showing this technique.... he keeps calling it "percolating."

Well, 5 coats primer, 3 coats color and 3 coats of clear later...

Sorry, its the best pic I can get without more light. Overall, I think they came out pretty good. I have some orange peel and a few runs but both should be easily taken care of with the wet sanding and polishing/buffing. Ignore any spots, a little dust is on the camera lens.

So here are a few more pics this morning of the paint job last night. As you can see, a few runs and orange peel to deal with, but shouldnt be an issue with the wetsanding and polishing/buffing to come.
