i am listening now. had to repaint the baffles because when i put the screws in for the grills to stick to, the paint cracked off to reveal primer. now the screws are black too.
the rest of the build can be found here. http://techtalk.parts-express.com/sh...highlight=thin

They are very nice looking Arlis. I can just about imagine the bass in that room right now
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

Very nice. How are the grills held in place?

How did you end up addressing the problem from the holes being drilled at the wrong end?

oh, thanks for bringin THAT up!:D just kiddin. i filled the holes with my favorite construcion glue/caulk, sanded all the poly off, primed and painted, followed by clear water based spray poly just like the baffle. i did this to both.

i inbedded magnets in the grill before i painted them, real tight hole plus glue. its 3/8 mdf. i needed a mallet to drive them in. i put little felt pads on them to protect the screws on the baffle which are painted as well. i used threaded inserts and some flat headed screws with a head about the size of a dime with hex drive. they WERE a nice brass screw, but now they are black like the baffle. the flash makes them look kinda grey, but the blend perfectly. thats the new grill cloth. very black.

Looks great especially the wires coming out of the ports . Only kidding of course , that's one of the things I use to do until I started doing more active speakers when voicing.
I like the grill you made on those as well. I like the sound of Silver Flutes and the build quality for the price you pay.
                  Thanks ,

i tell ya what. that water based poly is just great. i used it on the baffles only. when used on a flat horizontal surface, you can pile it on and it just smooths out great. you can put three coats in just over an hour with no sanding. this allows one to use flat paint, again no sanding. if after a piano finish this might not work. i use simi-gloss poly. the cabs are oil based poly.
