lol! Sorry I didn't clarify. I have this heatsink. The radiator only comes with one fan, but it has screws on both sides, allowing you to do a "push-pull" type configuration, if you want to (which I am doing). One of those fans was connected to the motherboard, via a 4-pin connector. I just unplugged it. That 2nd fan on the radiator really isn't necessary. I'm not even 1 degree higher at idle than I was before, so we're good lol.

Tonight my friend and I put a "dummy" piece of 1/4" wood on top of that side piece, over the port. We then got the flush trim bit out, and cut that dummy piece so it was the same size as the side of the box. Then we just measured out the center, and whipped out the Jasper circle jig. I ended up going with a 3" diameter port, that is 17" long. I still get some slight chuff, but it is much better. I think I'm going to round over the edge of the port tomorrow evening, and see if that helps with the chuffing at all. It is an improvement though.

Thanks for all the help guys. Now I just need to take care of that HPF for the OS's.....

No, more than one way. How about measuring the PVC and measuring the hole saw?

Oh, I would never just dive into it like that. We made 3 different cuts with the Jasper jig on a piece of scrap before we got the fit that I wanted. I borrowed the hole saw from a different friend, just to see for some reason if the PVC would fit right into it. The hole saw is a little simpler than the Jasper jig (for what we were doing).

So, for the HPF on the 4" midrange, is a correct value capacitor all I need in line with the woofer circuit? Would it be appropriate to put it before, or after the crossover? Does it affect the crossover at all?

And this should give me a 1st order (6db/oct) slope, on the crossover point I choose, which would be dependent on the value of the crossover that I choose.

If you're running your motherboard's onboard sound (or analog output directly from a laptop) then white noise from the power supply and the motherboard's own power supply stage for the CPU can be emitted and get into the onboard sound output. You have two possible routes that might work: 1) look for a discrete sound card that has some sort of EMI shield over it; ASUS and Creative have a few, or 2) use an external USB sound card or audio interface. To minimize the effect of a noisy PC output, max out the Windows volume control and then control the volume from your external amplifier.

Finally back to school. Here is how things sit in my room right now. It was a tight fit for everything underneath, but I got 'er! lol The sub has a lot more output underneath this desk than it did under the one at home. I think it's because it's a little more open and the low frequencies have more time to develop. That's just my (relative) inexperienced proposition though.

If you want a true audiophile sound card, check out Asus. I have the Asus Xonar Essence STX and use it with my Sennheiser HD600s and it is the best headphone sound I've heard. Its got line level outs for two channels too. I would stay away from ALL Creative products unless you are primarily a gamer.

Thanks for the advice. I do do some gaming, but I'd definitely buy the sound card for music (not sure what the difference is between a "music" sound card and a "gaming" sound card).
