The sub is two sheets of baltic birch ply glued togther with 1/4" strips of walnut and maple over that. The sub front is 3/4 of baltic birch with 1" thick solid over that. So it is 1.75 inches thick everywhere and well braced so it weighs about 95 pounds.
The speakers are 1" thick everywhere... fronts and backs are 1" solid. All other walls are 3/4" baltic birch with 1/4" harwood over that. I live in Iowa with dry winters so the solid wood speakers are relegated to the humid basement November-April.
Those are the same drivers as are used in the Madisound Froy kit, but Rick Craig of Selah Audio did the crossover as he does with all my speakers...he did the crossover for the 2.5 ways pictured well.
I heard this at Iowa. It was a fantastic-sounding setup! Looked amazing, too!
Thanks Paul. I really had no feedback whatsover. I felt REALLY badly I had to leave early that day. If I had to do it over, I would not have brought the sub. I literally installed the plate amp and driver the day before the event. So, I did not have it integrated properly for the event and that venue is "bassy" as is. Moreover, those 2.5 ways go low on their own. Secondly, I definitely needed to have the volume up a notch or two more when I played them. They were played much lower than the other entries. I can say that the 2.5 way is my favorite of my three speakers. The Seas Excel setup is a very close second and I do have striped MTM's as well that are still good but my third favorite. They use the Morel ET338 and I am just not a huge fan of that tweeter.
