    Re: Deewan's various speaker builds

    Dewaan,

Any comments regarding differences between the statement and dynamic speakers? I'd mainly be interested in 2 channel listening but any info regard home theater would also be appreciated. Its not often you find someone who has built and lived with two such great sets of speakers.

    Thanks,
    Pete

If you are mostly 2-channel listening and can put the Statements in their prime positions (away from the front wall and side walls), I would recommend the Statements. I wouldn't give it much thought. If you are mostly HT or AV, then I would suggest the Dynamics with the same conviction. Those are just my opinons. Bottom line, both speakers are an amazing deal for the price compared to what you would get commercially for the same amount.

If you have specific questions about the two, feel free to PM me. Always happy to give back to this community that has offered so much help to me.

Thanks. Here is a thread detailing the build of the theater and it mentions most of the acoustic treatment I built into the room to provide the ideal Home Theater listening enviroment.

              Re: Deewan's various speaker builds

Finally had some time to put the finishing touches on my DIY sub. I love the output from this thing. Finally a sub that provides deep bass but it blends PERFECTLY with the clean tight bass from the Dynamics. My last Paradigm ported sub was great, but you could tell it was a ported. This is much cleaner.

              Details:
              2 cubic foot sealed enclosure
              Dayton RSS315HF-4 12-inch driver
              BASH 500-watt amp
              Dayton Chrome Speaker Spikes

Looks great Dee! How are you liking it so far? Does it keep up with the rest of your system?

I have heard from another gentleman I know that Templeton Rye is quite good.

Maybe for my annual trip out to Iowa I will stop by on the way.

                  Re: Deewan's various speaker builds

I think the sub keeps up with ease. I have the gain on the amp set around 35-40%, so I have plenty more power if I ever need it.

If you stop by or want some Templeton, let me know. It usually takes 3-4 weeks to get a bottle. High demand, small supply since it is a small batch recipe and nobody knew 8 years ago it would take off so well.

I used spray can on the front baffles and a Wilsonart laminte on all other sides. The laminate was easy to work with and gives a near mirror finsih with ease.

Cabinets - Mahogany with Minwax Satin finish with "Paradigm" speaker spikes. Bi-amped left and right channel. DIY custom speaker wire.

I built this pair to replace the Statements in my theater. The wife never warmed up to the size of the Statements. After working with Jed on the H7 design mentioned above, the Dynamic series seemed like the perfect fit.

A lot of BEAUTIFUL boxes! Just curious. The outrigger feet...are they the ones that PE had on buyout, or do you have another source?

They are the buyouts from PE. I wish I had another source though.

These have been a very SLOW moving project thanks to the summer months being filled with sand volleyball and golf tournaments. But here are a few pictures of the new Dynamic 4T curved cabinets. They have gone through many design changes because of material costs and 'mistakes' made early on in the design phase.

                            TOWERS:

The center channel which has had very little work done.
