I'd have to run the model for that, but it seems to me that you might as well go with a sealed box.
I'll model it tonight - even sealed might be too big and have negative effects on the sound.

Will it be too big? Can I get by without a port? or if I do use the port, it should be even shorter right? your port is already pretty short at 1.5" Sorry not very good doing sims.

    Thanks in advance!

I ran the model in Unibox for 2 NS6 woofers and 2.7 cubic feet volume.
The only fault I could find was it looked like the step response would "ring" a bit.
I don't know if that would be even noticeable, much less objectionable.
If it is, (you'd hear a bit of muddiness in the midrange) just use up some
volume in the bottom of the tower (styrofoam peanuts in a bag or the inflated
      plastic packing sheets.

But it should be fine. 3 inch diameter port that's 3 inches long gets you something
like an EBS alignment. F3 at 55, f6 of 35 Hz. Resist the temptation to crank up the
amplifier, you will run out of xmax....

Thanks for the quick reply! I did find them a bit tall beside my ht speakers so i actually could make them shorter but ill listen to them first. So i could get by with a longer port? I'll try that, I will be powering them with just 25 watts, off a jolida tube amp. I guess It should be ok. I'm anxious to listen to them already but I still need to install the drivers.

Port is 3 inch PVC, 3 1/4 inch total length.

Tower plans for that extra bass "love"

May I ask what program you use for your 2D drawings? I have 3D covered with Sketchup. Thanks!

I powered mine for almost a year with a little PE Class D 25 watt amp, so you should be good with your tube amp.
That's some guys idea of heaven - tube amp wth nice paper woofers.

No you have do it in CAD so you can take sharp pencil and a steel rule and draw the cut lines on the wood from the printout of your CAD file.

Was checking this thread,,and noticed that the xover for the Auras have a coil with a cap in parallel. I'm a total NEWB and trying to learn as much as posible...so what is acomplished by this configuration??

The third post of this thread shows the measured response of the NS6 in box.
There is a pretty big spike at about 4.5Khz. The cap across the coil helps kill that spike.
Google "LCR" tank or notch filters". Usually you will find a resistor in parallel also. This particular
one works great without a resistor.

Thank you very much,,,I had seen them with the resistor but not the cap. I tried in PCD LITE xover section but that particular NF is not there or I cant find it. Will read some more on the subject..

I think Don is killing two birds with one stone if I'm not mistaken. It's not a typical tank filter because of the size of the inductor, which is also providing the low pass filter for the NS6s.

Yep,,thats what confused me. I had seen and read about the NF but they were after the low or high pass...never saw them combined.

I know right thats why i cant wait to power them up. I previously used the amp with the OS kit and was happy with the set up too. But i couldnt resist your maurbacs. Thanks!
