I'd say the tweeter 33 inches up is about perfect when you're sitting down on a couch or whatever, but I am 5ft even lol.

After a few "tall frosties", I'm pretty close to floor level myself.:D

What would you ballpark the peak wattage on these to be? I'm guessing ~100rms before the tweeter goes kablooey, but I'm not so sure. Also, are they Biamped or are the woofers in parallel to the tweeter (noob question, but figured safer than sorry). What do you use to drive them?

In general, they will be happy with 20-40 watts, and play very loud with that.
The limit is Xmax, and I dont' have a good value for that on the NS6.
If you high passed them at 80 Hz for a home theater, they could probably
handle 100 watts, but tuned very low, probably 20 watts.

I haven't really pushed them very hard, I am driving them with a DTA-100 (50W / channel)
at present.

I'm a big fan of plywood. The best I can find easily is ay Home Depot - Accuply - get them to
cut a 4x8 sheet into 2x4 panels before you leave the store. 3/4 is recommended for your
tower, with a couple of shelf braces.

Where would you recommend putting the port(s). From what I can tell it wants 2x 3" ports, which I think is kinda crazy but Unibox is smarter than me. (<-- which means I probably messed up)

Here's a taste of what this build will hopefully look like. My friend is investing in some foe-Fiberglass Vinyl Wrap, Which looks Pretty boss. I have the volume at ~2.2ft^3, which according to my half-baked model should work out pretty well. I think it will be closer to 2.1/2.2 with bracing and ports and the like.

Tossed together in Autodesk Inventor:




Drivers + X-Over Comps are in the mail! Total was just a hair over $103. I need to get terminal cups still, but it's looking really good so far.

You could just glue up an extra board on the inside of the baffle to make 1 1/2 inch thick,
and use a 3 inch hole saw for the the port.

Do you think I should put the port near the speakers, or down near the bottom?
Also, you don't think there will be any chuffing? I tweak out every time I hear chuffing, just ask my HT sub I want to punt down the road. (Unfortunately it's 40+lbs.)

If I were to make the port 2" of material, but with a .5" flare on either end, would it measure essentially the same? It would measure 1" of actual port and 1/2" of flare on either side.

I really like your idea of layering material on the inside for the port, never thought of that.

Well only because the port happens to need to be as long as 2 pieces of 3/4" glued together, otherwise, it'd still be a good idea, Zero port resonance, haha.

I like ports near the floor, and you should get a little more output due to floor bounce.
You will probably get some chuff with a 2 inch port.
If you really like some volume, you might try running them sealed with your sub handling
the low end. They will put out much more volume that way.

Hey Don, just wanted to let you know I have ordered the parts for a pair of Targas. Tweeters have come down in price to $30.53. Will be about a 2-3 weeks for the cabs. About $170 for drivers and crossover parts.

Quick question ...

I bought all the parts to build the AURBACS but never got the cabinets together.

I am now thinking of the MAURBACS .. so I would like to reuse as many parts as possible.

The coils for the MAURBACS are 1.0mH and .15mH ... the AURBACS use a 1.2 and a .2.

How big a difference would I see (or hear) by using the AURBACS coils?

I don't have a DCR meter but I could unwrap each coil a few turns to get close.
