    Great job!

Grab a can of black spraypaint and shoot the chrome screw heads. You'd be surprised how different they look without the chrome screws. You can even experiment with flat VS satin black VS high gloss black.

(Just to be clear - remove the screws first, shoot them black, reinstall them. I knew a guy that tried to mask them off, and paint them while they were still installed. yikes!)

Thanks everyone for the nice words.....I have been listening to them quite a bit and am amazed at how good they sound (for the money)!

My wife's Grandpa is going to help me do some touch up work to fix a few of the blemishes in the finish on Saturday. (He has been doing woodworking for 60+ years).

I also bought a set of spikes to make them more stable on the carpet in the living room. I'll post some better pictures after things are touched up.

Very nice!!! I built the standard TLs for my first total speaker build. Completely amazed at both how good $140 worth of speakers/xover components sound, and at the amount of bass those 5 1/4" speakers throw! Not shattering windows but for 5 1/4" speakers they sound darn good!! I considered building the tall ones instead but opted for the 36" tall ones and made a base that raised them up to about 38 1/2". Be interesting to hear them next to eachother and if they sound different.

Those look real good man, they remind me of the GR research N3. R.K.

    Tritrix TL Tall Boy Build

I have been lurking for several years before joining and always wanted to build something, but couldn't make up mind as to what.

A while ago a member had a tritrix kit for sale in the classifieds section for $80 including shipping. It seemed like such a great price that I had to buy it!

This thread shows the results. It was a big learning experience for me (prior to this I had never used a router). I have a table saw, circular saw, miter saw and lots of hand tools and have built tons of other projects (my house, deck, etc), but this is my first fine woodworking project.

I purchased some quarter-sawn oak veneer off of the local classifieds but ended up buying 3/4" maple plywood when I stopped in to pick up the mdf (I'll use the oak veneer in my next project ;) ). I ended up going with Minwax One-Step Stain & Finish in Pecan. It was a little bit lighter than I was hoping but I think it came out nice! I had to rough up some of the spots to get the stain to take (as the glue I used sealed the pores) but it looks nice and goes well with the knotty alder cabinets and doors that I have in the house.

Pictures are all taken with my DroidX phone, so sorry about the poor quality.
