    Large Advent redo.

    Got a pair of LA off CL and are redoing cabinets, xover and refoaming woofers. The walnut veneer cabinets were in good shape except for one place which I couldn't fix to my satisfaction so I'm just reveneering with walnut and putting on new front walnut trim with solid walnut corner blocks. I am veneering the front board with quartered figured walnut instead of the ugly flat black paint. Will build new grill frame with new cloth and paint the back black. I really like the sound of the LA even though the xover is very minimal. Two new 16uf caps and a 3ohm resister and she's ready to rock. I'll post more as I proceed. Sorry can't get pics to rotate properly.

    Update. Got all the woodwork done and now putting on minwax wipe on poly (2nd coat). Need to refoam woofers, hookup new caps to the xover, new grill frame, paint back and I'm ready to install speakers.

        Thanks Johnny. I finally finished these puppies last night and listed them on ebay. Turned out well. I'm amazed how good these old speakers can sound with such a simple crossover. I refoamed the woofers and they tested at 18 and 19HZ Fs!! Sound great. The fried egg tweeter really sounds sweet as well. Here are some pics.

        On to the next project!!!!!!!! Not sure what it is but I'm excited!

                Thanks for the compliments guys. A guy bought these quickly off ebay. I need to find more to redo!!!

                  Did you say the Fs was 18-19Hz? Those are ten inchers , that's low! I would have hung on to those for a while , great finish work!
