  • Ultimax 10" Subwoofers Finished

Got these finished up about a week ago, just got around to taking a few pictures last night. I will be purchasing a FBQ1000 in the next couple days so I will try to post measurements soon. So far they are incredible, the woofers haven't had a chance to break in but to me they can hit upper 20's without much issue and still have plenty of headroom for EQ. They certainly outperform my Epic 8's for music playback as well. Build thread can be found HERE.

Yes they are sealed, about 1 cubic foot after driver and brace displacement. Modeled F3 is 41 Hz, F10 is 22 Hz. They are around 80-90 lbs each I would guess, I haven't weighed them or anything.

Sorry Fezz you posted as I was replying to the last guys. Mains are Classic 6-1/2's with 4" dust caps glued to them (I thought it added an elegant-type look), buyout Peerless 4" mids that are NLA, I think they were 299-228, tweeters are Dayton ND28F-6. Center is the same but with two mids and Classic 5-1/4's. Rears are the same mids and tweeters in an MT configuration. I built the mains about 2-1/2 years ago and the center/rears and (now replaced) Epics at the same time about a year ago to match them.

Looks great. wish I had the talent to put such a good setup together. I bet this would make Lucas proud to have been behind THX.

Holy sexiness, Batman! The whole setup looks amazing! Wonderful work! How do they sound?

I will definitely eventually build a sub-subwoofer, I sim'd them up with an AE passive radiator and 300W, can't remember the details now, but it was like a 22Hz f3

Hey Matt is that 1.2 sealed or a high tuned ported design. I'm suspecting they are sealed. What are you powering them with ? Also If you don't mind what are the enclosure measurements ? I have some serious WAF to deal with in my upstairs tv room to deal with but I'm in need of a sub upstairs badly.

looks great. Makes me think I need bigger ports in my towers

Your slot vent that I calculated for you had 8 sq. in. of cross sectional area. That would have been equivalent to about a 3-1/4" dia. port tube.

The 2.5"d vent you got talked into has under 5 sq. in of area, only about 60% of the area I thought it needed. This has nothing to do with your problem though.
