I have been searching now for a few weeks for the right speaker project to build. I was originally inclined to go straight up transmission line and adding a tweeter atop but I kept turning to the "core 2" designs that I kept coming across. That, in itself opened me up to the idea of MLTL and and dayton rs180. I came across your build after being obsessed with finding a dual driver design with the rs180's I thoroughly enjoy the look of that driver.

My question to you is, at the end of the day, are you happy with the sound imaging for all listeners across from the speakers? Or is it very centralized to be best at one focal location? I tend to sit in the sweet spot myself but my guests and children do enjoy listening to my system with me occasionally.

I really do want dual drivers to handle higher volumes and more power, but I am still undecided between your design and the core 2. Price mostly... is it worth the bit extra? I do have a Klipsch RW10D that I will use to slightly fill in. Speaking of Klipsch, I had a pair of RF-62 and was in love with them. Though, that horn was a bit bright. However, the detail in the mids and highs were amazing. Low end was a bit muddy though..

Very happy with the imaging! As I said previously, comparing these to my old Polk Monitor 60's, there was a huge difference in sound stage and imaging. These are much more detailed, much clearer bass, and put out a much larger sound stage.

I'm planning on doing a pair of these starting next month. I've got the drivers and crossover in one of the PE boxes, but I'd like to try them in an MLTL box. Since this design is ripe for the taking, here we go. I presume that in you drawing, all measurements are internal (or for internal pieces, center). Is that correct? I don't know if DIY Speaker Guy or Paul K. are watching this thread, but if there's anything they would change about it, it'd be an ideal time for me! Thanks for putting this up.

Hi Ed! Hope things are going well for you and your family. Just wanted to say thank you for your help with my Statement Monitors. They really shine paired with the Emotiva separates (USP-1, UPA-2 and ERC-1) I got about a year after the Monitors were done. I live in Tumwater now and every time I listen to music, I think about your generosity with getting these speakers built. I'm glad that we could work together, and the timing was great. My ability to use my hands has gone a bit more south, so it was nice that you were able to help. Just a small workshop here at my new place, and even building a flat-pack kit has become quite difficult. Here's a pic of the new set-up, taken the day I moved. Of course getting the stereo and speakers set-up were the first priority! Still had a little more work to do with the wiring and getting things situated, but it was cleaned up with the help of some split tubing and zip-ties! I bought that early-70s Pioneer tuner from a forum member; it's like new and came with the nicely bound original manual and factory schematic. Emotiva offerings didn't come with a tuner at that time, so a mix of old and new. I had to buy a new rack for the new gear, the old one wasn't up to the task.

Thanks Ben! Still around and pushing forward, but my situation has not progressed well enough to continue speaker building anymore or other activities that require dexterity. Meaning my main passions in life, loudspeakers and motorcycles. I peek in now and then to see how folks are doing. If you see or talk to Shawn, tell him hello. The dimensions are external. I built my towers to these specs also. Here is a link to the speakers that I built.

Thanks for the replies folks! It truly helps. Ed - 2" x 6.5" port? Sub 30 Hz F3? I hope I'm reading that correctly, because - YOUZA! I'd gladly trade some power handling for good bass extension.

That is a two-inch radius, 4" diameter x 6-1/2" length. Note the input is 100 watts RMS for about 102dB. I don't notice the slight dip between 40-50Hz. Overall, a very nice sounding speaker. Mr. Bagby certainly knows his stuff.
