I have finally started on my RS180S-8 & RS28F MTM towers. The crossover was designed by Jeff Bagby from this thread...

I will be watching this one closely. I have a future plan to do this exact build in a 9"/15"/44" MLTL cab with a 3" port centered 4" up (internally) and tuned to about 30Hz. Should be pretty close to what you are building.

I purchased the drivers and crossover parts to build those towers from your old thread too. Which cabinet size did you decide on? that old thread had a few cabinet size choices. I'm looking forward to the progress on your build and learn from you.

This is great!! I was in contact with Paul K about a single RS180 MLTL for a buddy of mine. It turns out that the build would not happen for a while and now I've stumbled across this thread. I happen to have four RS180s but not the tweets. This looks very very tempting though. Subscribed.

I have all the guts for mine, crossovers are built, but no time to start on the cabinets just yet. I will be watching this one and posting mine as it progresses.

I made a little progress this weekend. Finished gluing up the boxes. Next up is cutting the baffles. My cuts were made with a straight edge and circular saw, so everything was off just a little, but a little sanding and bondo and you'll never know...hopefully!

Are the Amiga or Core by Paul Carmody not suitable? Particularly since you don't have tweets. MLTL considerations would change the tuning some, but shouldn't really impact the design.

I have tweeters that I planned to use with the RS180 MLTL that Paul K modeled for me. Since then I acquired another pair of RS180s and then a few weeks later this thread popped up, so it got me thinking. As everyone knows, it's dangerous for me to think...and it hurts. :p

Trust me, I'm totally on board with that. I have enough parts / builds on the plate for two lifetimes. ;)

These will be replacing some Polk monitor 60's so I'm hoping they will be quite an upgrade!

Nice work! They'll be some solid cabinets. Do you have a finish decided yet? I really like the base, with the inset portion. I've had many Polk models here for listening sessions with various DIY designs. 2-ways to 2-ways, MTM's to MTM's, etc. Can't remember the model #, but a friend brought over his Polk MTM towers (IIRC, ones with the 5.25" woofers) and we did a TriTrix side-by-side. The imaging, soundfield and smoothness of the mids and highs was quite superior with the TriTrix MTM towers. I imagine with the RS drivers and that nice cabinet, you'll be experiencing some goose-bump moments that weren't present with the Polks. Can't wait to see the next round of photos!
