  • My wanna bee santorium experimentation

So far the 4 woofer array sounds best. Not that the 2 woofer is bad. The 4 woofer array sounds very much as good as my much more expensive (to build) "bastids". Im thinking a slightly larger enclosure would help lower the lows. I'll make them sealed. The port(s) dont help anything.
So, now "No one has ever used 4 NS6s" is no longer a true statement :D
I might also someday build a 6 woofer design going right by the master plan since it would be affordable. I'll certainly need help with the XO, but I wont ask untill I am ready to put the time in it so that yalls efforts dont go to waste.

I might also add that the goldwood GT 510 tweeter is every bit as crisp as my dayton 1 1/8" silk domes that cost twice as much

Looks like you've got about 1.5 cubic feet in that tower. IMHO, the NS6s really like about .6-.7 cubic feet each minimum.
So, yah, build a bigger box unless you plan on HT use and rolling them off at 80 Hz

I was messing around and with the wtw set up I disconnected one of the woofs and used it like a passive. Then I took it out and plugged the hole. BTW one of the 2 woof set ups has the whole enclose space.

I'll begin the build in any case. This time I will use poplar. I'll probably once again use cherry stain. (I know you guys fret on solid wood)

I have a saw like that, maybe a previous year model. I like it. If you don't already, you should add some cross bracing especially when using solid wood.

Will do on the cross bracing.
Im pretty happy with the set up. Makes life alot easier.
Got my box pieces cut. Now its time to play with my home made router flush mount jig thingy ma jig :D

Why not just build Curt C's Stentorians at that point? They use 6 woofers per side, and are a proven design. If you build them the way he has designed them, then you could really compare sound quality differences, and maybe see what you like or dislike between your build and his design. :D

Besides if I know Texan's they love their summer BBQ's, and the Stentorian's as designed would be excellent candidates when hosting outdoor Q's and parties. They can play 118dB (roughly) before reaching X-Max. That is almost as loud as a jet taking off from 200ft!

Not a bad idea. I might just do that.
BTW I just stuffed the towers with fiber fill and they sound fantastico. They already had batting, but I think they sound even better now. What ****** me off tho, was, due to the flush mounting, the drivers were hard to remove because the flanges got pushed out by the screws and the baffles got a little dammaged. GRRRRRRRRRR

Those look very nice. Very classic appearance. The grill with the wood piece below is especially pretty.
