Well I just got done cutting all the pieces and glueing the tops and sides together,it was almost impossible to get the small pieces square just using a skill saw.My health is not good and it took a lot out of me.I'll have to wait a couple day's before I start routering holes,I might just primer these put them together and build some better ones when I can get the use of a table saw.

Just got done with the boxes didn't come out as good as I hoped but they will do the job'I care about the sound more than looks anyway.I ordered the crossover parts yesterday so I'm just waiting now.

I've been counting on my nephew to post pic's He will be gone for at least a week so I'll get some up when he get's back.I'll have to wait another month before I can get the primer and paint.I'm very interested to see how they sound.

Just got done with the Armadillo build not to bad for such small speakers,had enough primer for one coat,not able to get any pictures up at this time but will as soon as I can.

Well I was not overly impressed by these speakers so I went back and checked everything out.I must have been really tiered when I finished these the other day,I had a loose connection on one and the polarity reversed on the other.Now that there right they sound really good,they sound like speakers twice there size.When my nephew gets back I'll post some pictures.

Glad you like them! I actually did pretty much the same thing when I built mine, I had one tweeter reversed, took me a bit to figure it out.

Well thanks again.I did my crossovers a little different I made the board a little longer and put all the componants from the tweeter on one side and all mids on the other.Since both the inductors were at the same place but on opposite sides of the board I stood the .13mh on it's side,I arranged everything exactly as it's shown on the wireing diagram and it worked out great.

The obligatory box assembly photos! I used biscuits for everything but the front baffles, which I cut slightly oversized. I had to get them glued on straight and didn't want the clamps causing the baffle to creep out of alignment, so I used the shop vac to hold them till the glue tacked up enough that I could clamp them the rest of the way. It worked great and only took a minute or two of "vacuum clamping" for them to stick.

Edit: Another note on the vacuum clamping, it's a great time to wipe off the glue drips since there aren't any clamps to get in the way. By the time you're done with that, your baffle should be just about ready to clamp without it sliding around.

Brilliant method. Will use this!!

Hello, if I may ask a silly question, I assume the schematic in this post is the correct one? I have the opportunity to buy the drivers cheaply here and thought I could give this a try for some fun and learning!

That's the schematic, yes. Adjust the padding resistor to taste.

My apologies, one other silly question if I may.

As a newcomer to the hobby - am still building my first project - and the mysteries of crossovers, the 50 ohm resistor seems to be there to smooth out issues with the P-coil for the woofer . However, if you use a 'normal' air core inductor, (which are easier to obtain here) can you do without the 50 ohm resistor? When I sent the BOM to my local electronics shop, they said they hadn't seen such a high impedance resistor in a crossover before. I'm not questioning the design, but trying to understand the idea behind it.

As a newcomer, may I say I am amazed how helpful and friendly the DIY community is!

The 50-ohm resistor takes the woofer level down about 2-3 db, and would not be the same as changing to a higher DCR inductor (i.e. p-core to an air-core). the designer also suggests that you buy 2-100 ohm resistors and run them parallel so it makes a 50-ohm load, but can handle twice the wattage (they can catch fire if you dump enough power and get a resistor hot enough).
