Just wanted to update this thread with more pics of the final paint job. Again, they were designed for my cousin who's graduating highschool, so they're intentionally girly...

The paint is two coats of turquoise with a glitter fade from top to bottom. Her initial "M" was monogrammed in under the glitter using some removable vinyl.

I just used the normal 3/8" Frost King vinyl foam gasket from Home Depot. Find it in the window stuff.

Thanks for having the DIY Room. It was really fun listening to some of the projects. I have to get a hold of the gentleman that had the Dayton RS 150 and Vifa XT25 neos. That was a nice inexpensive speaker. It sounded great for a small package.

Those were tyger23's and they would have won the black box completion I am sure. I finished 3rd and his design trounced mine in the LSAF room on a system I designed except for the DAC.

tyger, this build interests me. I have been looking at the rs150 and xt25 for some time now but could not find a build with this combo, glad you posted this build. I think I'll take a chance and build these.
One question do you think enlarging the box to .5 cu ft would give more bass extension or would this cause problems with the xmax of the rs150 at high spl?

Very nice indeed. I love your paintwork too. I'm currently doing a pair of Troels PMS ( Poor Mans Strad). I need a good spray painter to finish them

In my sims, I don't think you'll get any more "real" bass out of the RS150 with a bigger box. It's pretty well optimized for that driver. You'll be quite surprised at the extension that the box gets to. It's tuned to about 48Hz and doesn't have any issues with moderate to loud volumes.

The only issue I ran into with XMAX slap was with a poorly recorded track (direct rip of vinyl onto a CD). The actual CD version of the same track gave me no issue, so I assume the person who ripped the particular song in question didn't account for the flutter of the vinyl track.

I hope you give them a shot. I was extremely impressed with them. So much so that I'll be building an 8-ohm version in the next few months, but I haven't even purchased the drivers for that yet, so it's a ways off.
