  • Just the start of my first speaker project.

This is the little 3.75 mid from the Dayton Audio Satellite that can be found here http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=300-694
Out with the old and in with the new. Waiting for Monday for the xover parts, and wednesday for the circle Jig and MDF. Still don't have a router or table saw, primer, paint, or speaker terminals. :o

I hooked the SF up straight to the speaker wires and the sound was louder then the Dayton, more spacious and sounded a lot better. Can't wait to get these in a box, xovers, with tweeter and foam. :D Since this is my first project, I want to do this right. So I'm going to buy a router and roundover bit. Still not sure how I want to paint the cabinet. I'm thinking primer, then flat black.

If you're wanting a smooth finish I would use spray primer/paint, but if you're okay with some texture just rolling on something like truck bed liner (no primer needed) is super easy.

I was thinking primer, then Stone Texture by Rustoleum. Buuuuut Walmart and Home Depot don't carry it with a black base color (black granite). Just gray and brown and a white one.

You can paint over the texture paint with whatever color you like, just make sure it's dry before you do. I usually use the gray texture paint, and then cover it with flat black.

            Got Wood?

            How about a Jasper Jig?

Now I'm just waiting on someone who has a table saw to lend me. I was at Home Depot watching them cut some things and the person was hauling *** through it all. Yeah no thanks, I'll do it myself and with patience. Xover parts should be here today. UPS doesn't get here until 5pm. So I'm going to practice roundovers, flush, and cutting holes on that scrap board next to the MDF.

for stone paint, get a roll-on quart of paint+primer in a color close to the spraypaint. this will save you lots of spraying just to get 100% coverage, several cans of paint. try the "oops" bin to see if they have something close really cheap.

i think rustoleum's site also has a vendors page. i had to go to a paint store to get the granite color last year, and i think that's
how i found it. or try amazon.
