Re: Wolf's PC, Sprite, and Voxel Subwoofer 2.1's in Walnut

I can see the light at the end of the trunnel for this project. Mt bluetooth recievers and terminal cups arrived and I made a little more headway on the Voxels. If I had double the clamps I own I would be further along!

My set up for laying out the curves I cut at the bottom of the enclosures.

For the sake of uniformity, I used double sided tape along with masking tape to pair up the front and rear baffles for the bandsaw cut and spindle sander work.

    Glueing up.

    The port tube.

Woofer holes are cut and chamfered.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Excellent attention to detail. Can't wait to see finished product.

For the glue ups, do you just use a wet rag to wipe off the glue while it's still wet? Or do you chip it off after it dries?

This project is completed. Bothe combos with either pc and voxel or sprite and voxel sound great. The voxel and sprite combo can really pump out the bass.

                        Jeff,

I am enthralled with the amazing work you have accomplished on this build. I am currently working on a boombox made of solid walnut as well. You're projects has been of great inspiration to me! I only wish I had access to a wood shop like yours.

I had a few questions for you if you don't mind.

                        1) Have you had any issues with shrinking/expanding or swelling of the wood? That is my main concern with making a solid wood box. It is totally worth the risk to have such a marvelous work of art, but I was just curious of your experiences.
2)What size of joint cut did you end up going with? 3/8?
3)Any other tips and tricks you can offer that helped it go smoother?

                        Thanks again and amazing work!

I used a 3/8" box joint. The lumber supplier I use supplies kiln dried hardwoods to local cabinet makers. So far, I have not experienced and issues due to seasonal movement or shrinking. That said, even though i was thorough when glueing the cabinets together i also took the time to apply silicone caulking at the inside of all of the joints.
                          Thanks,
                          Jeff

This is truly an inspirational build! I'm fairly new to this addiction and now in the process of setting up a woodshop in the garage for the main purpose of speaker building (much to my wife's dismay...). I can only aspire to something of this quality! Really beautiful work, Jeff!

It took me a few years to ammass the tools and skillset to even consider building cabinets like these. A tablesaw and router will get you started. My advice is to take the time to research the tools you buy. It's much cheaper to buy a quality tool once than to buy a cheap tool that will fail and cause you to also purchase that quality tool later.

Ive only been woodworking for a few years. If I can do it, anyone can!

Thank you for the compliments on this build!
                              Thanks,

These Sprite's look great!! What are the dimensions you used because I know they are going to be different from Paul's?
