    • Yes it’s been awhile since my last visit here. My apologies for being an unresponsive member. Life sometimes intrudes on things we are passionate about and sets us on a different course. In my case, a divorce, a cancer diagnosis, and then the great Louisiana Flood of 2016 put quite the damper on things. I’m okay. Healthy. Happy. However my wood shop is still packed away in a rented storage unit. My only audio project since 2016 has been of the car audio variety. I did a big project to build a high SQ system in my 4 runner that I have been modifying for overland adventuring. It still lacks a subwoofer, so that is on the agenda.

Thank you all for the compliments and kind words here in this thread and via PM regarding this build. I consider myself a perfectionist almost to a fault and I walked away from this satisfied with zero regrets or second guesses.
      Thanks,
      Jeff

Every time I research the ND90-8 or Sprite speaker, your build features right on top and I just love to go through the build process and the pics. Seriously amazing skills with woodworking and camera. Just love it.

I know that the bass of the Sprite is pretty good (having built a few myself with slight tweaks in the filter). I have added tweeters to some of the Sprite builds (just a BSC and L-Pad, HPF on the Tweeter at 9 KHz) and it really opens up the sound and adds a lot of air.

Since you have built both the OS and the Sprite separates, how would you compare these two with regard to bass and overall sound. Also, how much of a difference does adding the Voxel sub make to them.

        Thanks.
This reply may be a tad late but....

There is no comparison to be made between the Overnight Sensation and Sprite. The OS will win every time as it is a 2 way design and can perform better than the Sprite in every aspect. Paul Carmody designed both of these and I do believe that they “sound” as if they were cooked in the same kitchen , especially if the voxel is teamed with the sprite. The OS is a much better listening experience though.

FWIW, I currently have the Voxel teamed with the OS pair in my fishing camp. I have them way underpowered, but it is a good combination.
        Thanks,
        Jeff

        • Good to have you back Jeff! Your projects were a big inspiration for me. Sorry to hear about your tough times but if sounds like you are in a good place now. I hope you're able to unpack your woodshop soon as I know many of us would love to see another of your builds.
