  • a humble TriTrix MTMTL build - my first "non-kit"

So here goes nothing. I have it all purchased. The cabinets are almost done. I couldn't find the one router bit I need for the driver holes last night so that's today.

Just a dry fit. Using biscuits because... well, I wanted to try it

I haven't decided on finish beyond paint. Probably go with black... but who knows? Is there an awesome thread somewhere on finishing you guys prefer?

    Putting together the crossovers tonight.

Anyone with tips, tricks, advice or anything to say- go right ahead.

Hi Pete, Lookin' good! Biscuits are great, if for no other reason than lining up those long sides while gluing. We all now how stressful glue-ups can be. As for a finish, just peruse the forum. There are some great threads on veneering for sure, which is my finish of choice, for the cabinets anyway. I'm still messing around with all sorts of different paints on the baffles.
    good luck!

Did you make the mistake of putting these together and listening to them before putting the finish on them. As difficult as it may be to stop listening to them long enough to disassemble and finish them, you must.

You could go industrial with Duratex. It's very forgiving, easy to use and looks damn good.

+1 on the Duratex. Very stress free finish. Also, you can fill holes ect, with drywall mud.
they have a sample bag for about $20. Would probably be enough to finish them with a few coats. sorry, black only, afaik.

You can get white but I don't know if you can add colors like you can with paint. Just FYI.

Arlis tinted white for his DIY IOWA 2013 project (which were probably in the top 2 or 3 systems heard that day - BTW). A nice "cream" color, mixed with wood. Maybe he'll pop in and tell us how. I'm thinkin' almost any paint shop that can tint acrylic/latex, maybe?

(I think Arlis meant that the small trial bag is only avail. in black?)

That is probably what he meant. Sorry Chris/Lowell.
