      Guess xmax's age.

My guess: 15. His grammar is passable. His trolling is good.

The first pic Is a well known studio In detroit (eminem, george clinton etc), I only designed and built the subs using Faital Pro 18"s
with a crown reference amp and bryston cross over, The second is some prototypes that did not sound very good sealed, bigger ported
cabs in the works (wink), The third pic is a system I designed and built using TAD 15" a ATC mid and RAAL ribbon, and some aura 18" subs, the 4th pic is princes studio A and I only diagnosed a very strange what sounded like electronic modulation distortion, turned out
it was a cracked compression driver (yummy Beryllium dust) and I also tweaked the eq and cross-overs) many more but no pics handy.

And for a little dampening material: I believe the reason a little will help has to do with transient bass notes,
at the tail of the note (no matter how low the x-over) the air in the cabinet will ring a little, just put a tad of
603 or the dayton stuff on at least 3 of the six sides, in my experience it is worth the little effort, a
small amount will go a long ways in this application. I think others would agree.

            So,

I've moved this inside. What a monster. I have to get some tiny rollers for the inside of the ports.

Sealed vs Ported measurements in the locations as pictured. Mic was right where the camera was, so sealed is a bit closer. There's are room modes between 70-85hz you can see in both graphs. As the subs are moved away from the wall this changes.

Huge gains. Can I just say how happy I am with this? There's a slight touch of port noise when pushing these super hard @ tuning frequency, but you'll only ever hear this with sine wave testing. I pointed it out to two people and they were like 'what noise?'. Didn't even notice when I was using one enclosure to shake the everloving **** out of my house. Can't wait to get the rest of these built.

Here we have a spectogram, no crazy decay. A touch at the first port resonance @ 108hz, but that will be diminished by the xover at 80hz.

Man I really need to move away from the West coast and head inland. I could not find a house with a big room like that for a dedicated theater when I was house shopping.

being an spl junkie i have appreciated your thread and its subsequent derailments. can you share any "outside the norm" changes you may have done to the room itself? or any kind ofodities/mods you may have subsequently done to it?

Just lots of in-wall wiring, bunch of HDMI and network links across the room. Also, big one, (5) 30 amp circuits on the screen wall ;)

If I were to do it again, I'd double-rock the walls. I may still build a platform for the seating, since you'll get more tactile feel out of it vs a concrete slab. That's probably next up on the list. Not sure how I want to do it yet.

At this point your walls would be considered bass traps, I am not sure you would want that pressure contained! ;)
