Re: Finally got my RSS315-HF Subs assembled
I like the design of putting them both on the front. Sure it might fall over but I love to watch all the woofers moving and giggle while listening! I might have to modify mine to do something similar. My Build Thread's

The upper is the RSS315 and the lower is an Acoustic Elegance 15" Passive Radiator. Dayton 240 plate amp.
Just running one at the moment and it is enough to shake the house. These are based on the lower section of Pete S.'s Byzantiums.

Re: Finally got my RSS315-HF Subs assembled
I ended up doing the same thing. I have one sealed 12" HF and another 12" HF with the CSS 15" PR. I needed to put a rubber mat under my passive because the 5-15 hz stuff made it act like a washing machine with a heavy wet blanket in there. It was pretty funny. My Build Thread's

Re: Finally got my RSS315-HF Subs assembled
I was concerned about them tipping over with the heavy driver up high and wondered if I would have to flip them over or lay them on their sides to get the drivers center of gravity lower, but it turns out they are quite stable. It takes some effort to get them to tip forward at all and I had to tip them somewhere between 45 and 60 degrees to the floor before they got to the point that they wanted to tip toward the floor vs. standing back up.
Thanks to both Mikes for the compliments. These have been on the project list for quite a while. Now I have to decide whether to veneer them or try Duratex on them. They are very heavy with the driver, PR, amp, 1.25" baffle and back and 3/4" top, bottom, sides and bracing so whatever I finish them with is going to have to be durable to handle the abuse of moving them around.

Nice- Mine are very similar but use creative sound Trio12 and AE 15" passives, and a pair of salvaged dressers for cabinets- MDF construction, most walls are >2" thick with extensive bracing, so they're heavy mofos.

I like the project alot, they must sound incredible. I also like to see the AE parts. Guy I know used to work there. He built some PA subs and reinforcement speakers that were in a local live music bar that sounded quite nice..and loud..

Yeah, AEs products are great, I just wish he could get to a point where he could deliver his products in a timely manner. It took me months to get these PRs and the same for the IB15 subs I bought from him years earlier.

Those look nice Leroy. Solid to say the least. I think you would like the Duratex but they would look real nice with veneer." To me, the soundstage presentation is more about phase and distortion and less about size. However, when you talk about bass extension, there's no replacement for displacement". Tyger23. 4.2015

Thanks, I'm finding that when they get going they like to walk around on the smooth stained concrete floor. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for another good deal on some zebrawood veneer to finish them with.

I just bought these for the movement issue. http://www.parts-express.com/penn-el...x-1-h--260-774
I noticed "reconstitute" zebrawood is alot cheaper i think it was 70-80 for a 4x8 sheet. I know its dyed manmade product but at 1/2-1/3 of the cost it was an option for me.My Build Thread's
