Tower rebuild project of a mid 80s Kenwood 4way, 5driver speaker. Originally this had the 12" woofer, an open back 4"mid, dual 2" paper cone tweets, and a 1.5" paper cone super tweeter. The crossover consisted of all of 2 caps. The drivers were in excellent condition, and the cabinets just needed some reinforcement. I had picks but alas my SD card is amiss.
I decided to gift these to my sister and use what I had in my inventory. The original woofers modeled very well in the given space. Two thumbs up to Kenwood there! The response was decent enough for this. Not stellar and the impulse response was rather ragged. But good up to about 1k as usable.
The mid selected is the GRS 5-1/4" sealed back. Again, a solid performer and much better than the Goldwood I tried first. The tweeter is a 1" softdome, shielded from PE a few years back.
After modeling I arrived at crossover points of 750Hz and about 3.5Khz. 2nd order electrical all around and phase looking pretty darn good. Being a 3way, the parts count and cost can add up rather quickly. Since I do enjoy reusing and repurposing as much as possible, I grabbed up the pair of crossovers I had from a pair of Rat Shack Mach2s. I input the values into PCD just to see where they came up. Of course, it wasn't a bullseye, but not a complete miss either. I was able to reuse all of the coils, and even 1 cap! I replaced the remaining caps with NPEs in the values I needed, added a few resistors as necessary and resoldered. Voila! A complete 3 way crossover for the pithy sum of $5! For both!
For the finish, I borrowed from Boland and used most of his MDF finishing technique. It was decided though for the edges by my niece to use the metalic black I had on the shelf. It was finished off with a few coats of poly. The sides, top, and bottom are duratexed. I added braces to the sides and back, then lined with mattress topper. The port is 4" and results in a tune of 33Hz. Overall volume comes in at just over 3cubes.
When I took them to her house, one of the first tracks was Phil Collins, "In the Air Tonight", one of my favorites and hers too. I knew there were good when she turned to me with a tear in her eye!

As for the name, Ken wood if he could, but since he couldn't, I helped him so now he is a CanDo. Yeah cheesy but fun!
