  • Classix II in Piano Black / Walnut

Grabbed a kit from DIYSG for my bedroom. Clear coat over walnut veneer. Great little speakers.

Thanks for the design. They're used for music and tv/movies in my bedroom when I don't feel like firing up the big system ( http://countercultured.net/pics/ht ). Sound great, good extension, just not too loud, but that was completely expected. I didn't want to setup a sub in there, so went with something that could dig deep for a bookshelf. They didn't disappoint. Getting usable extension down to about 30hz.

My jaw just hit the floor looking at your theater room. So jelly right now lol. I'm working on the Speedster TMM's right now and I plan to finish in them in walnut as well with duratex baffle. Thanks for posting these pics though I like the look walnut with just the poly on it. It would have taken me a week or two of testing different blends and the easiest one was one I really like lol.

The clear over walnut is amazing, really deep 3d finish. Catches the light real nice at different angles. Can't really show it so good in pictures. I went with 10mil paper backed from veneersupplies.com

Cool, i got a 4x8 sheet of Walnut and hickory 10mil paperbacked as well. Local hardwood store called "owl" $150 with tax so not too bad a price but i got to select the grain i liked in person at least. I wish i had the 3m option but it didnt (not in the 4x8's only the 2x8 rolls).

NYT, what was the finishing process. Did you sand the raw veneer to a higher grit (320 or higher) or just apply sealer over raw veneer and sand the sealer? Also, did you just use one coat of sanding sealer then the poly?
