Hats off again to Paul Carmody, another build of an OS Boombox. Thanks also to Gordy and his Madeleine, who was the initial inspiration for this build. Although not nearly as elegant as the Madeleine, I'm very pleased with the end results More pics and an abbreviated build log later, but here's a preliminary look...Click image for larger version

You do some really nice woodworking and finish look flawless.
Wondering why you didn't put the tweeters above the woofers?

Thanks, it's not apparent in the pics because I'm shooting down on an angle, but the tweeter c/l is slightly higher than the mid. I'll post some assembly pics later, but there is a horizontal divider in the box, separating the drivers from the amp and Bluetooth module. That being said, the tweeters probably could have been moved up a bit, but it doesn't sound like it's affecting anything. Only have a few hours on them, still breaking in.

ID:	1159392Two applications of Minwax "Gunstock" stain, 4 coats of Deft Laquer. After seeing what the stain looked like, I decided I wanted Brass corners instead of the black I initially bought. Hard time finding them, these are antiques from a 100 year old cabinet making company that had gone out of business. They warn you ahead of time they're not new, expect some blemishes and tarnish. Gave them a light polish when I got them to clean 'em up, lacquered them as well. Like the old patina on them....

ID:	1159394 Same shots as from the beginning. Basic OS construction, crossovers in the speaker enclosures, drilled one hole per side to the upper section of box to connect to amp (sealed after wires run through). Upper section has amp screwed down with 3 L brackets, Bluetooth module, and wiring for the outlet on the back for phone or computer charger. Rear facing 6" ports. No battery, have an outlet near our firepit where it will be used most of the time. Thanks again to Paul Carmody for the OS design, and others whose ideas have contributed!

This is a great looking project! I am a big fan of using hardwood for speaker boxes (even thought it has its drawbacks)

                      Re: The Aspen

Thanks Gordy! Aspen turned out great for this project...it's a soft hardwood that machines easily and took the stain well. It's known for being very stable, and it's light weight (compared to oak for instance) makes moving the unit around easier.
