  • My Black Statement Monitors

In my quest for a 3-way speaker, I chose the Statement Monitors.

I am breaking the drivers in as I type.
I am also going a few more build pics in as I find the time in the next few days.

Nice. How do they sound so far. I haven't heard a set of statements yet. I almost had my wife talked into a set, then we moved.

Like the roundover on the front. Is that veneer/wood on top?

Looks good. What's your first impressions (and what are you powering them with)? I've heard so many positive comments about the statements. I've got them on my build wish list when I get around to my home theatre.

        Nice choice in a build.
May I suggest some gasket tape to bring the mid back to flush on the baffle....
Such nice parts in your build, just making suggestions to bring it all together.

They sound pretty good. I am using my Marantz 1060 to break them in. I will be trying my Yamaha amp this week.

It is all done with Duratex. I was to veneer, but the more I thought about it, the more I didn't trust my wood working prowess.

To anyone wanting to do this build, you have to cut a tweeter relief into the mid tunnel. I didn't really see this documented anywhere.

So how are these sounding on the Yamaha? Nice build looks good.

The Yamaha doesn't do them justice, IMO.
I hooked them up to my Pioneer SA-7500 and they sound real good.
I am still looking for a good deal on a power amp to be used in conjunction with my Marantz 1060 as the pre-amp.

You looking for vintage stuff or current solid state? I bet one of the new little Dayton amps would make them sound nice. I have the audiosource amp100 on my desk for my OS MTM speakers and love the combination. Beats the pants off any of the expensive 2.1 setups in the big box stores.

The Emotiva UPA-200 is on sale. It does a very nice job powering my Denham MTM's. I'm sure your Statement Monitors would come alive.

The Emotiva would be a great choice! :applause:

If you're looking for 2-channel, don't over look the used market. The older Hafler DH-200, DH-220 and 280's are excellent. Adcom, B&K and many of the other older audiophile quality amps can be bought for little money and have lots of "real" power with great sound quality.
