  • The Locker Rocker!! - Sprite Variant

In the midst of a 10 game losing streak, I decided that my hockey team needed more pre-game inspiration. Thus, the LOCKER ROCKER was born. I did a little research and it seemed that Paul Carmody's Sprite was a good candidate for my build.

The cabinet was made from 1/2 inch Baltic Birch plywood.

The baffle and back panel are made of the shafts of old hockey sticks that I cut and glued together.

One of the best ideas I have ever seen for old hockey sticks. Being in Mich both my boys played travel hockey through midget age, I coach and still play on occasion.

I put metal grills over the drivers to prevent any mishaps in the locker room.

Vents on the rear. I used a dish to hold all the connections.

Team logo. I printed the logo on some waterslide decal paper, applied the decals, and then brushed some polyurethane over them. All in all I think it turned out pretty well.

As far as sound goes, I love the quality of sound that I get out of this thing. I wish it played a little louder but that may be a product of my phone not outputting loud enough through the headphone jack.

Thx Kevin, Yea if you play or have kids that play you always seem to have old sticks laying around. I cut them to length and then skinned each edge on my table saw so that I was gluing raw wood to raw wood. A little titebond II and I had rock solid panels.

Great idea. Nice build. I used to be in a band with a guy who made small end tables out of old hockey sticks.

            Wow!
Isn't it about time we started answering rhetorical questions?

Do you mind if I borrow this idea? I know for sure I want to build something like this and looked in the garage this AM and have at least 8 sticks in my barrel.
