My family is part of a home school co-op that meets every Friday. With a 100+ kids, things are a little loud at times. So I saw a need for a small rig that could be used and stored easily. No multiple pieces that would need to be assembled/disassembled each time. And of course, budget (or lack of) was a concern.
So I dug through my collection of drivers and parts and started forming a bit of a plan. Nothing set in stone as the plan would need to evolve as more info and parts became available. I knew that it would be one piece, would have mic and cd player connections. In the end, I chose Goldwood GW208/8 woofers and a set of Foster 2x6" horns for the speakers. A pawnshop buy netted me an old Yamaha powered mixer and Coby portable dvd player. The mic is a simple unit from Parts Express. Crossover parts were just old stuff I had on hand and is basically just a 2nd order at about 2k. And Duratex was used throughout.
I didn't take any build pics. Just a couple of the (almost) finished product. In the end, I spent about $100 total.
