OT Harmon Kardon Citation 16, 17, 18, opinions

A friend of a friend is trying to sell these. The 16 is the amp, 17 is the pre, and 18 is the tuner. Does anyone here have any idea if they would be worth buying?

As the article notes, in some ways it's obsolete tech by today's standards, such as the quasi-complementary output. Still, it's probably a nice amp if the price is right. Be aware that, like all old electronics, it may need new electrolytic capacitors, especially in the power supply.

$500.00 for all three. I did do all the Googleing too. Not too much out there but what is, is mostly positive. Plug in boards should make up-grading/refreshing a snap!

The Citation 16 wasn't regarded as the most refined amp of its day. But still, it's a high power work horse. If the chassis is in very good condition your friend might get $500 (or more) for just the amp. The preamp and tuner will be harder to sell, but some hk collector will want them. Check history on eBay for what these have sold for in the past.
