Neil, I think you're well aware I'm interested in the project but I'm also not that great at doing things with a computer, in my case it would have to be similar to, xover programming for dummies 123 for me to effectively use it. That's why I get along with the minidsp so well, it's stupid simple to use for, well, stupid people like me.

... and I know you're passionate about this hobby, but that's a lot of work, and IMO, all the hard work you're putting into this endeavor shouldn't all be for free.

      Definitely interested.
I'm in the final stages of acquiring the parts for a nice 6 channel amp for a future active 3 way box or OB build.
And, yes, I'm in the "active crossovers for dummies" gene pool. <g>

This looks like it would be fairly involved to write up all of the articles you have mentioned Neil. It should count as more than one of the projects for the SBDT if you ask me. Looking forward to it if you decide to move forward.

Thank you Neil. I am most certainly interested in every aspect of DSP design and implementation you intend to touch on. I will PM you in regards to the continuation of a DSP controller project you may or may not be aware of. Thanks for your contributions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How will you make that determination?

This is an extraordinarily interesting and generous proposition. I'll be keenly watching for it. I think the "cry once" prospect of buying DSP gear and a couple extra amps to be far more exprimenter friendly than building analog crossovers for each iteration of speakers.

I am interested. Especially on acquiring the board, all required items along with it, setup, programming it and some design tips. I don't mind building a class D amp with a board but I have 2x 5 channel A/B amps with 110wpc. I just finished a small 2-way that I was trying to do a passive and active with minidsp. The passive is pretty much done and I tried the active first. The active had an odd buzzing on some songs in voices. I couldnt figure out what it was. I love the idea of active it's far cheaper and more importantly the ability to add a HPF at like a 20-30hz allows smaller woofers to play very loud and clean in vented enclosures.

I have two 2x4 minidsp's. I did drop one maybe that's the issue.

It's taken some effort to rework the Audiodevelopers.com website, but I finally got Wordpress installed and made a simple introductory page. I've got a start on the first article. I'll have an "official opening" when there is more content to share, but if you want to follow along and offer advice, please feel free to add comments.

Note: you might need to refresh your browser fairly often, because the content is changing quickly

The first article is fantastic Neil. Very informative and easy to read.

Will you post notices here in the thread when you complete articles on the site? I'm subscribing to this thread in hopes that you do so I can read the new stuff as soon as it comes out.

Thanks. I don't think I'll ever be "done" with any of the articles--I always go back and rewrite things, especially if someone provides comments. But I'll post when the first 4 or so are in readable shape (drafts). In the meantime, I'll keep working on the outlines and you can watch the articles unfold. I think I've got a useable first draft of article 1 posted, but the others are going to come more slowly.

Anyone should be able to add comments to the Wordpress page and I believe that anyone can subscribe to the RSS feed. I'll read up on RSS--I haven't used that feature before.

I'm not sure how useful these articles will be unless you have the DSP test bed to play with. I've got about 7 or 8 boards I can send out, but I want to finish off some of the software before making them available, as I get tired of apologizing for stuff that isn't working. And then I've got to get working on those case studies. It might take me a while to work through all of this.

I liked the intro article as well. It draws you in and makes you want to explore active speakers. I look forward to subsequent articles.
