Grey PVC Electrical Conduit for Ports

I noticed a port in grey and Chris Roemer mentioned electrical conduit when someone couldn't find the white PVC size they needed at Lowes. And the black plastic tube (polypropolene?) seems to be rarer and rarer in my neck of the woods - special order at my big box HW stores. My understanding is that PVC can be painted but it's prone to flaking. So for those that would rather have a grey port instead of white, here are the dimensional spec.'s.

I've used a lot of the 2-1/2" (when 2" is not big enough, but 3" is too long to fit), but the 3-1/2" and 5" sizes are otherwise unobtainium.

Chris, a wholesale electrical supply (like across the parking lot from here at work!) will be happy to sell you one length of conduit, of any size in stock. Ultra-cheapo spray paint (flat black) from Dollar General or Wally World's brand will stick if you remove the mold release with 91% isopropyl alcohol or Simple Green type water -based degreasers.

Rigid black plastic pipe which is used for Drain-Waste-Vents is made of ABS, a styrene.

Use Krylon Fusion.

Krylon Fusion products seem to be sidestepping into the Supermaxx paints at Walmart.

Menards also carries 2" polyethylene pipe, which is black. The reason ABS and PVC have different availabilities has to do with local codes for usage. I know I can get some pipes in Ohio that are just not sold in Indiana due to this reason.

I've also used a ton of the 2.5" elec conduit pipe.

Don't feel bad, here in California (according to our legislature) just about everything causes cancer and is regulated and taxed and. . . just try and obtain some decent solvent or glue or such.

I actually know what the letters ABS stand for, I just happen to be very good with acronyms!

It's a styrene like the plastic in model car kits of yore: acrylonitrile butadiene styrene,. And that's why we say ABS.

Another one I like is RTV Silicone. Whenever I'm in a Hardware store looking for Silicone, I ask them what RTV means!

Use Krylon Fusion.

Yes, newer paints are better. But that's not a solution when routing a flare in a baffle that cuts into the pvc tube.
