From all I can find, it should be correctly configured.

The miniDIGI is used, perhaps damaged? Don't know how I'd check though. The LED is on, not much more to check.

I also thought perhaps I am using the incorrect "Plugin", but Advanced seems correct.
I took at pic of my jumper settings. I am using the 2x4 balanced, but I don't that should matter. I am passing the digital input signal through and out the digital output, so I have an additional jumper on J1 (the horizontal one) that's not critical here (this is described in Option 2-Advanced configuration, Stereo-2-way) .

You need to put a jumper on J6 corresponding which ever input you are using (spdif 1 or 2), and then on J1 you need the jumper shown in the pic on the left of J1, above "3" and below "Outputs". That sends the miniDIGI input to the 2x4 as I2S.

A couple of other things to check:
    • Make sure inputs/outputs are not muted in the GUI interface
    • I2S Master/Slave jumper is in place? See miniDIGI manual.
    • On the GUI "system settings" tab at bottom, do you have the "External Volume Control" button enabled but no potentiometer connected? Audio volume will be barely audible in that case.
    • Try the other SPDIF input, and switch the jumper on J6
    • Wiggle all the jumpers up and down in case they are not making good electrical contact.
    • Wiggle all the edge connectors and make sure they are securely plugged in - these require some force
    • Confirm you have spdif data by using another component that can receive spdif and product audio

    Hope that helps...

MiniDSP has a forum, but expect quite slow response time there, e.g. several days (at least that was my experience in the past when posting there).

Looking on the MiniDSP Forum, there were a few posts about no audio using the miniDIGI. Has anyone on this Forum had success with a similar assembly. In so far as I know, I have all the jumpers correctly placed, and the miniDSP slave/master jumper in slave mode. I've also checked, and there is a digital signal to the miniDIGI.

    Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
I have this exact combination (miniDSP 2x4 and miniDIGI) in use on my old OB system and it works flawlessly. I would guess you have something configured incorrectly. Here are some things to check:
    • In the miniDSP 2x4 GUI, I think on the main tab, there is a radio button that lets you select I2S input. You must have this enabled for the 2x4 to take its digital data stream from the miniDIGI.
    • On the miniDIGI board, there is a header that selects which digital input is selected. Looks like you are using one of the optical inputs. You must have this one selected on the header. Check the manual to see which position you need to place the jumper on the header.
    • Finally, from the picture it looks like you have a bunch of header shorting thingys on the other header of the miniDIGI. Make sure you are only making the necessary and correct connections here. These set come things about how the digital signal is routed or something like that, so make sure this is set up correctly.

MiniDSP used to have a document that described how to set up the miniDIGI when used with the 2x4, so read the manual and that technical document and you should be able to figure it out.

Thanks Mark, I know you'd help if you could!

I think I may have gotten myself into a situation best characterized as; "Geezers rush in where nerds, and/or digital natives fear to tread."
