Was making room in the freezer so I needed to get rid of some fish fillets. A fish'n buddy from work hadn't been having much luck, so he came by for a couple bags of fillets. As we were scouting for new fish'n spots on google Earth, Spotify finished loading in the background (we're really starved for data out here in the sticks) , and the PicoNeo's that flanked the laptop sprang to life.
Is all that sound coming from those? He couldn't believe there were only two speakers making all that bass and the sounds were emanating from places other than the speakers.
One thing led to another and he had a listen to the 'not a Khanspire build'. His words, " I've never heard speakers do anything like this ... ever. I didn't even know they could do this."
One more is introduced to the fray.
Skip forward a few days later at work when I chastise him yet again about not wearing hearing protection. So we made a deal. If he'll keep wearing his hearing protection, I'll build him some speakers.
So now I'm looking for an idea on a very affordable, preferably floorstander, that'll pull off the tricks of the more expensive stuff. His tastes will probably lean towards country/rock, it will need to mate with cheap electronics, and for the most part, be full range.
Built a set of the OS towers, and they would be ok for this purpose, but would like to do something a little different this time. Counting drivers and crossover parts, the OS towers cost ~$200, I'd like to stay under that if possible.
