  • Bordeaux... Available for the masses?

I remember a little while ago they were introduced to the world, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting the final release of the details. I saw Jim post the other day about how they are his new “keepers”, so since I’ve been drooling over the statements for years, I believe I can move on to those... Without even hearing them. Does anyone have more details on them? Eyes on? Listening impressions?

Jim has a BOM available and can forward it to you if you e-mail him. Hopefully he will see your post here and respond.

I've purchased all the materials - just don't know when I'll get a chance to start building.

Why it is Jims homemade wine that he sells illegally on this forum. Na his latest design.

Sorry, Curt and I have moved slowly on making available the Bordeaux design. We've both been super busy. However, we have everything except the write up completed and time to get it on Curt's website. So, if you email me jim at jholtz.us I'll send you the CAD cabinet drawing, crossover, BOM and some build tips which should be just about everythng you need to create the cabinet and crossover.

Listening impressions? The best ones will come from folks that attended Dakota DIY and Iowa DIY where they actually got to play a while.

Either that, or the EU thought police will tell you that 'Bordeaux' can't be used as it's an infringement of something or other!

That finish is beautiful: and I'll bet they sound even better than they look!

If you find the cost of the Accuton mid prohibitive (and MOST do), look into Jim's "Anthologies". JMO

They sound, taste and smell wonderful. Please adhere to the placement suggestions and don't shove them in a corner or against the wall. Like the wine they need to breathe....

I thought I would add that placement is more flexible with the Bordeaux due to the way the cabinets are constructed. I have the bass cabinet positioned about 10" from the wall behind as shown in the picture which places the top cabinet back about 17" away. The front of the speaker is 32" out from the rear wall.

Wow. That’s even better news. Although space isn’t a huge constraint, the wife will be happy knowing the living room speakers don’t have to take up a lot of the room. I was already just going to just spring the space constraint on her for the statements when I built them.
