Yeah, it's not really fair to small desktop speakers when we play them in big room on free standing stands. They certainly don't have much of a chance to sound then way they were designed to sound. One the other hand, speakers like the Kairos and Spiritwinds sound great in that environment because they were designed to be used that way. With the Sopranos there's only so much you can ask of a tiny speaker with a 4" woofer. Put it in an entertainment center and next to a TV and the vocals are excellent.[/QUOTE

A fair amount of baffle step, hence a drop in the 2kish region a quick dirty fix would be extreme output around 2K. Via the tweeter.
    Guess xmax's age.

My guess: 15. His grammar is passable. His trolling is good.

Baffle step at 2kHz, yeah that sounds about right.

If you guys want to have a blind level matched shootout and compare your speaker designing skills, I'd be more than happy to set it up on the next NY DIY.
As with previous blind listening sessions such as Iron Driver, I can guarantee unbiased scores.

            Hi Jason,
I do have a pair of the XT25BG on hand. I can certainly try that. What was the crossover point for the XT25BG, if you don't mind?

            Thanks

I'm not sure what I will be using the Viawave ribbons with yet, perhaps Volt 3" mids or something else that can easily extend to the 3-4k region.
I'm not with the current trend of pushing any tweeter too low, especially a ribbon even though this one seems to have some extraordinary
              qualities.

LR4 acoustic, 2.2khz. I first tried a little higher, but the 7" SB magnesium has an audible dip starting about 2.5k.

                      I also have some SB21RDC-C000-4

I'm pretty excited about these and they will be included in the testing but I also got the Flu!
So I'm not going to get to it today I will just draw up the test baffles in Vcarve when this fever
                      comes down!

I had the flu just before xmas, lasted only a couple days but was a bad time overall. A freind also got the flu that lasted more than a week, so I count myself as lucky.
I'm not deaf, I'm just not listening!

I am now fighting pnuemonia after flu, always a pleasant way to spend the holidays.
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

I was coughing and stuffed up for a month definitely the worst I've ever been sick. I never get flu shots so maybe i should start.
