  • Jeff Bagby's Kairos

Hi, first of all sorry for my English..

I want to build Kairos and I bought the crossover kit from Meniscus Audio.

Now I got a doubt, the frequency response of the Satori mw16p from the kit description is different from the frequency response in the Sb-Acoustic site.

Anyone know if the driver is changed and if the Kairos crossover is compatible with the actual driver?

I wrote to Meniscus Audio but no answer..

    Thank's

    Luca

There is a difference between a driver measured in a cabinet (Kairos), and a driver measured on an infinite or even IEC baffle as the spec sheet is.

Hi Wolf, thanks for your answer,

In these images you can se the frequency response of mw16p , in kairos write up and the actual dowonloaded from Sb Acoustic site.
Both them in iec baffle , the one I downloaded from sb acoustic site is revision 2 28/03/2016, so I think something is changed in the driver.
But I don't know if changements can make difference in Kairos project
      Thank you

Well, IEC measurements are only good down to a certain point due to room interactions. Above 500Hz, they really aren't very different at all, and are what I would call negligible.

        I think they'll be fine,

Look for Joachim Gearhardt Kalasans. Not sure about spelling. Much improved cross over. Everything is better, treble, mids and bass.

I did not, but a person I know did. Was very unhappy with the Kairos he built the Kalasan and it is a very big improvement. He used the same cab as the Kairos use, just changed the crossover.

just another doubt... in kairos baffle tilt is 14° , in kalasan is 8° ( as in new kit from sb acoustic ARA ) , are there any difference using kalasan crossover with 14° tilt baffle?

There was a thread about these two speakers a few years ago. I like r-carpenter's response the best:

Well, JB also has a similar Adelphos for same drivers in straight cab . I don't know the technical differences in XO values , but obviously cabinet does matter...
but I'm curious to hear your impressions of both XO's
