    Try this,

    2nd order LP: 2.5mH series coil (#257-556) and a 10uF shunt cap (027-340) OR (027-118).
    2nd order HP w/L-pad: 10uF series cap (027-118), a 0.60mH shunt coil (to grnd - 257-040).
The "L" user a 6ohm Series Resistor and a 5ohm PR. Normal polarity.

Crosses near 1.8kHz. Very smooth looking. 81dB +6dBSC.

    Off you go.

      Chris,

We've never met, but over the years I've been following this forum I can't help but notice your contributions. I have seen you coach many noobs (including myself on several occasions) with good, straightforward advice without a lot of confusing theory and never coming across as being condescending. You are a tremendous asset to this community. Just wanted to say thank you for all that you do sir.

      Jim

And would replacing the 2.5 mh iron core coil with a air core be worth the clarity difference; thanks mike

Curt and Jim's "Finalist" uses an iron core in series w/the woofer.
                          So does their "Statements II".
                          Just sayin'.
