Curt and Jim's "Finalist" uses an iron core in series w/the woofer.
So does their "Statements II".

And would replacing the 2.5 mh iron core coil with a air core be worth the clarity difference; thanks mike

We've never met, but over the years I've been following this forum I can't help but notice your contributions. I have seen you coach many noobs (including myself on several occasions) with good, straightforward advice without a lot of confusing theory and never coming across as being condescending. I HAVE a knock down .56 cabinet with a peerless tympany 830990 hts 6 1/2 woofer and a morel Cat 308 tweeter in a ported.not good at building crossovers need help please. P
