Oh yeah - the garage system. I won't put anything valuable in our damp, musty garage. I used the preamp section of a Yamaha CR-620 with blown outputs to feed a Kenwood KM-895 amp - feeding a pair of Bolivar 3-way speakers from the mid 70s. It sounds surprisingly good for a bunch of cheap garage sale finds. My 20 yr old loves cranking it up while we're working on our motorcycles.

I don't have a garage system because, I presume, I have a basement workshop where I can build speakers year-round in comfort. In the basement I have a Pioneer receiver that's probably 50 years old, that puts out 25 wpc and still working fine. It's driving a pair of MTM (sort of) TL speakers I built decades ago when I had little knowledge about TLs using a pair of AR midwoofers PE acquired when AR dumped them.

A pioneer sx1016 with Accuphase P300s for powering the front and rears.
An Adcom 5800 for some electrostats.
Just for fun a 1976 Pioneer SX1250 for JBL L100s.
Jolida 502 tube for various high efficiency builds.
Two 2 channel Class Ds (minidsp x-over) and another P-300 for an Altec 604e/Altec Alpha 15 based OB.

Oh yeah, the Nobsound 2.1 chipamp running the bedside Mariposas and DanP's NRNP sub. Hooked to an internet radio.

ID:	1436991 So I went to an iTunes to home network, and made a 100W/chl system: Airport Express audio out (photo shows on left AE cut open to keep cool) to Sure 2*100W amp that drive: in Family room PSB's, on deck JBL outdoor, and a portable system driving JVC's from an older boom box. Amp is driven by Sure 30VDC PS. I then mount this into a box with a handle and has a speaker connector outside the box & the 120V power plug. In my family room the PSB's sit on a mailbox-on-end sans door, one of which houses the amp. Only issue is there is no wireless L&R speaker, so cables run there....COntinually working to improve it...sometimes (rare but occasional crackles) there is audio feedback when no signal is driven out of the airport express, the amp does not go idle when no audio is on....and a couple other things. However, I can freely stream music wherever my mesh networks allows (all around inside & out of the house). SONOS without SONOS I guess....

I just swapped the Sonance buyout amp into my PC 2.1 system. I'm not a critical listener, but this amp sounds excellent, driving S2000s above 80hz. I'll swap the Zingers back later and lower the crossover to the 8" Dayton DSP sub.

Yeah that sonance is a really nice amp, especially when you snag it at the tent sale for $40!

Mine are probably as old as most of the folks here, a few Kenwood M2A'a and M1D's for critical listening. My HT is a newer Marantz 7.1

I enjoy rotating amps in and out of my main listening system. Here's what I have:

                    Adcom GFA-545 II
                    Rotel RB-970BX
                    Hitachi HMA-6500
                    ClassDaudio CDA-250
                    ClassDaudio SDS-500
                    My scatch built SET KT88
                    Yamaha RX-750
                    Craig

I drive way too fast to worry about cholesterol.

In my main system, I use a Rotel RB-991, which I find to be a pretty good neutral reference. I wouldn't mind replacing it with something smaller and more efficient (like a Hypex or Purifi amp) but that hasn't hit the top of the priority list yet as I really don't have any complaints about the sound of the Rotel.

I have a Samson SX2400 that is quite capable also, but has a little fan noise and higher noise floor than the Rotel - so it primarily comes out for entertaining and has been powering DIY Iowa for a number of years.

My home theater uses an old Sony ES DVD Receiver (I think the model number is AVD-S500ES) I just use the TV as the switch and send optical digital back to the receiver, so its age isn't really an issue. I have a Behringer EP1500 powering the Sub.

The man cave got a new Onkyo TX-NR686 after the B&K 307 let out the magic smoke over the holidays. B&K made some great sounding stuff, but most of what is left is getting pretty old to the point where reliability is a serious concern - so I went with convenience.

I have a QSC CX168 waiting to go into service for an active system (maybe a crossover emulator if I ever get around to that) or HT application.

I also have a few vintage receivers. The current crop includes a Technics SA-818, Sony STR-6800SD (garage system), and Scott 370R. I also have a Sansui G5700 that needs a little work (goes into protect at about half volume).

Keep an open mind, but don't let your brain fall out.

For pure stereo it's an actively cooled Pioneer SX-850 still withthe original caps
HT is a Integra 70.4 with an inuke 3000dsp for the subwoofers
The office has a Sony STR-DE935
The garage has a POS Pioneer that was free
The bedroom has the chip amp in the TV driving in-wall B&O IWS1000
For parties it's JBL EON615s backed by EON618s subwoofers
