  • Who is left?

Maybe old news, but seems Zalytron is gone. Madisound is alive and well as is PE of course. Speaker City seems to still be in business. Adire seems to still be there. Who is left as sources?

Found https://electromarket.co.uk/ but they only have a few, mostly big woofers., and donlt bother to list complete specs. More PA stuff I think.
FOund http://www.theloudspeakerkit.com/ which seems to have similar stuff as our host, just the other side of the world.
A newcommer it seems https://www.hificollective.co.uk/ Has good POTs. Handy as I think my old Sony table radio is in need of one and now my Nak preamp is getting noisy.

Newark, Allied, Digi-key, Mouser, etc. yea. I was thinking more of driver resellers and manufacturers. Back 15 years ago, there must have been 20 sub-woofer makers. Here was some new really good tweeter specialist but I don't remember the name.

Well anyone who is pushing such fraud as this I have no use for:
                  https://www.partsconnexion.com/AURIC-87070.html and https://www.partsconnexion.com/DUELUND-74523.html

Wood chamber on a tweeter. OK, looks like a decent tweeter, but clearly this company caters to the very rich and very stupid.

Browsing. I see we still have $200 USB cables, $2000 HDMI cables, and other such magic. P.T. Barnum was right. One born every minute and seems they still buy magic.
                    Browsing Audio Advice.
Can't believe, $2000 for new version of a JBL L100. Yea, they were popular monitors as they could make the slightest defect stand out. Exactly the opposite of what I would want in my living room.
Gad, when did a pair of Vanderstein 2Ce s go from $1200 to $3200 a pair! They used to be the bench mark for "so you think your speaker is better..." You know, like an old pair of shoes, nothing more comfortable. Well at $3200, they have moved into the silly market. I am sure they are as good as ever, but no longer the price benchmark. $700 for piece of butcher block to put your turntable on. Hmmm I have a full wood shop. Maybe with 4 or 5 pints of stout, I can dream up some story about how some special wood magically makes your $12 cartridge in an Amazon table sound better than a Linn or SOTA.

https://www.dedicatedaudio.com/colle...blocks-large-6 but do they come with free foil triangles for your doors? Silver plated cryogenic treated fuse holders. Yup, guaranteed to clean up that sound that came through 40 3-cent op-amps in the studio console.

Why is a $3200 speaker in the silly market?

Every retail outfit has absurd items that people will buy. Does this mean you won't buy from PE because it sells WBT Edison duplexes? You have to think like retail- is there a market for it, and can we sell it and make a profit? Business is business. Just because you don't see the value in something does not mean someone else does not, whether or not the merit is there in your thought process.

Sonic Craft is also still alive. While I agree that some things are implausible, this amount of skepticism is not always met with the results intended upon trial of said products.

I am and or was a skeptic- until I heard results myself in some trials I conducted myself. Being closed-minded is not always a benefit to your psyche.
